Makeup for red lippie
I've never really worn red lippies before. I've had one but used it only several times. Maybe I was not ready for it. Actually red lippies are not popular in Russia and honestly I do not know what to wear with it. I mean both clothes and makeup.
Little black dress and red lippie is the first thing to come to my mind))) But I do not go out often, I'm sitting at the computer and work.
But now I feel I need my red one))) I have ordered HotBlooded to start with and plan to try all the SN lipsticks until I find the best match. But I really hope you share your experience - what colors do you wear with reds? What are that little tooltips I should know? Thanks in advance!

With Hot Blooded you can wear pretty much anything- it's not really an over the top or hard to wear red. I usually wear it with a light blush like Petal, Stardust, or Maybe Baby, and keep the eyes pretty simple.
For clothes- I tend to keep it simple too. I wear a lot of jeans, and if you pair it with the right top, and a cute pair of shoes, it works well. I tend to avoid reds if I'm wearing anything 50's style because it starts to feel a bit too much like a costume or a cliche. I also tend to avoid reds if I'm wearing anything really low cut because it starts to look like I'm trying too hard- I go with nudes for my cuter LBD's.

Re: Makeup for red lippie
Thanks a lot Karen))) I felt it, now I know it)))
And some doubtful variants:
What do you think about wearing red lippie with a red sweater? (I have 2 - summer cotton and winter woolen, classic V, both with open neck which is quite yellow)))
I'm also very impressed with the Fall collection. And it seems that Berwick and Harris paired with smth neutral might be a crease color for a makeup for red lips. What do you think?)))

I like wearing reds: lots of different shades depending on what I'm wearing. I second Karen's suggestion on keeping the rest of the makeup muted: I either use Petal, Flirt or sometime Gemini (lightly) and a light eye (or even just a brushing of the blush complete with eyeliner and mascara) to let the red lips shine and avoid looking like a clown.
Sometimes even dotting the lippie itself and blending it out makes for a good blush that matches.
Can you wear red lip with red sweater? Absolutely! That's what I usually match my red shades to when I'm not wearing a black top (and jeans, mostly). You can also wear red lips with white tops: I've done it a lot during the summer. Or, try wearing some fun scarves that have a bit of red in them to pick up the color from your lips.
Hot Blooded is a good way to start, and another not really out there red could be Cherry Crush. It's not true red, but it gets you started
When you're ready to move on, try Bitten: pretty sheer and build-able. And after that, nothing is getting in your way to pick up Reddy and Crimson!
It also depends on your coloring, but most of these are really wearable. Other lippies can be used as 'red' as well - a picture of you could help to get more suggestions.
Harris looks like a nice neutral (with a kick) crease, but I wouldn't really go as far as Berwick - that color needs to shine on its own
Try Earth, the inspiration for this release; it's a great neutral too.

Re: Makeup for red lippie
Dear Egerandi, thanks a lot)
I'm waiting for Hot Blooded already, also I've ordered Fig Leaf. Tomorrow I'll go to post to get my parcel with Harry Potter and Hawaii collections and Nectar. (I was lucky to get Mango samlpe to soothe my expectation that lasted over a month))))
I have all these color in my wish list, wondering in what order to try them))) I'm interested in Symphony too.
In Winter (we have a lot of winter) I love wearing whites and almost whites I have very warm clothes and boots and just warm all in white)))) here are my nude pics http://host.silknaturals.com/forum/view ... 7&start=10 here I have only moisturizer on my lips, they're pink and pigmented))) I'd love some more recommendations))
Btw I'm much more pale now!

My gosh, Crimson was made for you
The brightness may be a bit intimidating, but you can tame it and wear it for daytime even blotting it nicely to make it stain-like.
It will look pretty wearing white or black.
Symphony is well-loved around here, especially because it's a black label lippie, but the color didn't work for me. It doesn't mean it wouldn't for you, I just can't say much about it. Bitten is a good one to try, you can even layer it with others. Reddy may be a little too cool for you though, not sure. Another good neutral red may be Sultry.
Let us know how the new ones you're getting work out for you!

Re: Makeup for red lippie
I just recently got Bitten, so I have to add my love for it, too! Really, really pretty, easy to wear. Hot Blooded did not work for me--as you can see in my avatar, I'm pretty fair!
I wore Bitten today with Bronze Beauty as blush, and Homecoming Queen on inner corners of eyes, Purrr all over (my FAVORITE!), and the gwp Mwahahaha on the outer edges, into crease. Lots of black mascara. I don't usually do eyeliner in the mornings--I just spend a few extra seconds with the mascara, wiggling it carefully through my lashes.
I also love Crimson, but it takes a little extra work. I agree with egerandi--I think it would look fabulous on you, too!

I really like symphony, but I wouldn't call it red, even on me it is relatively muted.
I just ordered reddy, can't wait to get it, I ♥ reds! My favorite SN 'everyday' red is casual red, I wish Karen would bring it back!

Lily, do you have Crimson by any chance? How does it compared to Reddy? Could be good to know what it looks like compared to Crimson...lilychemgirl wrote: I just ordered reddy, can't wait to get it, I ♥ reds! My favorite SN 'everyday' red is casual red, I wish Karen would bring it back!
And I hear nothing about good things about Casual Red...what does it look like?
I have Crimsom, which I ADORE! I put it on and blot a littlebit untill I get a sort of stained red lip look, it stays for a looong time and make me look refreshed (I really need every help I can get these days, lol..

I always pair it with Beach bunny on cheeks and Eu-Taupe-Ia eyeshaddow when I am wearing a red top, makes me look put together without getting the clown-look.
I have also tried once a sample I have of Forbidden and put a tiny dot on the apple of my cheeks with Eu-Taupe-Ia and Earth on the eyes, and that looked good too!
I really love red... so feminine and puuurdy...

Re: Makeup for red lippie
Not Lily, but I do have both Crimson and Reddy, so hopefully I can help
Reddy is darker shaded, and it seems to have a bit more depth to it. On me, it leans into a bit of a cool burgundy. It's also sheer and nicely buildable.
The site says it's a warm base, but it always seemed cooler to me, which I don't mind at all.
Casual Red is like a cooler version of Hot Blooded, and I believe there is a tiny sheen to it too.
