Site additions

Post by karen » Sat Aug 02, 2008 1:16 am

Hi,
I'm in the process of doing an overall spiff-up of the site- organizing things better, putting some things together, writing some informational articles, diagrams, related products etc...

Is there anything specific you would like to see added? Anything that would help you as a customer, or anything that you think may make it easier for new customers??

I have some pretty good plans for it- but I'm sure some of you have some thoughts about it too.

1. A way to save login information so we can checkout quicker or look over account information.
2. Testimonial page isn't filled out yet. Probably could grab some off the forums :)
3. The Kits Link on the left doesn't have a homepage, so you would have to click on the link right under it that reads "gifts under $10". This is easily overlooked. I probably just caused a stampede if people didn't notice it.
4. Possibly load more items on one page. Some load about 20 items at a time, others only load 4 at a time on a page (yes there are more than 1 result page when this occurs).
5. Separate the Famous clones section out to organize into lipglosses, blush, eyeshadow, etc. Similar to the way samples are separated out.

That's all I have for now. Hope it helps.

I love the way you've grouped the shadows by color. Makes it easier to find the shade you're looking for while comparing to similar ones. The swatches have been very helpful as well - we all know that something that looks like dirt in a jar could be absolutely amazing on the skin. What about coordinated groupings by skin tone, eye color, subtle vs. dramatic, etc. I just don't have the time to experiment like I'd like to, but I can certainly follow a "recipe". Thanks for being so responsive to your customers, Karen. That's why we keep coming back! Lauren

Someone has suggested to have a place to find all the swatches in one place, I think that is a great idea.

One issues for me is when adding items to the shopping cart or wish list. After adding the item the keep shopping button should bring you back to the last group page you were viewing i/e blushes. Now it seams to drop you back at the main page, so I usually click back twice but that is a bit annoying after a bit and often I loose my place.

I think adding a signifier to all the regular products that are available in a sample size, a little star or something. Possibly with a link to the sample page on the full size page. Customers may be missing trying products.

Karen,
I guess I'm not the only one, who wishes that when I heit continue shopping it would take me back to the last page visited. When I'm shopping for eyeshadows and end up at the 1st page everytime I hit continue shopping, I end up forgetting what page I'm on.

Thanks, Hollis

Hi, Karen,

Another thought about the website update. One of your competitors shows "before and after" shots of various customers, and tells what colors of makeup were used to achieve the "look." Something like that would be really helpful for folks like me who are much better at copy-catting than being original. That way, I could pick a person with similar coloring to mine and have a solid idea of what should look good. On the other site, they offer a 20% discount if you submit your before and after pics for posting. I have some of their stuff, and like it fairly well (it is more expensive than yours), but not as much as your products. AND I much preferring shopping at one site.

Another idea - perhaps you and your mavens could post drawings of how you would apply makeup such as 3-4 color eyes, contouring, highlighting, etc. with the colors labeled. As a matter of fact, several of us here who are unimaginative with m/u would probably buy such a "design book" to keep on the dresser for mornings when we have a little extra time to try something new.

Don't know how you do it all, but I'm sure glad you do! Lauren

Ah, Lauren, you underestimate yourself. Get some samples, and PLAY - makeup is supposed to be fun! And you'll come up with some terrific looks - I know it.

If you post a picture in the TGIF (playday) thread here, you do get a free eye shadow for it if I remember right.

(I registered just so I could post this suggestion). And maybe I'm blind, but I was wondering if we could have a Best Sellers/Most Popular Items section? I haven't been to visit in a few months, so I was surprisingly happy to discover that you came out with the "Heavy" formulation and I'm definitely planning on getting a kit, so I figure... eh, why not throw a bunch of other things into my cart as well. I have a LOT of makeup, so I barely know where to begin and a "Most Popular Items" would've probably been a HUGE help in that department! ...Just like a "Top 10" list (for each section, if that wouldn't be too hard).

I get a lot of “failure to connect” on the forum and site. May be time to upgrade the server. Unless it just me?

Love the Eye Shadow guides!

Hi, Karen,
These inspirations come to me as I'm "window shopping" on your site (which, since I joined the forum, is VERY frequently!) I purchased the Stonewashed collection and really like it. I know you have other groupings or collections. What about adding a category under e/s for collections, showing the offerings for each group? They could then be sold at a slight discount as a collection rather than individual shadows? Helpful for someone like me who has a really tough time seeing coordinating colors at 6AM  L.
