If it is good, stick with it. You can always slightly adjust it later.

OK- I FINALLY put my order in! I got: Medium and Heavy coverage Ivory, warm gold tint and peach sample- I have a feeling I will have to warm up my formula with it! I will attempt Jen's reccommendation in both the heavy and medium coverage and see about adding peach to it. Any advice/tips will help!

I think there will be plenty of peach in Warm Gold....but it is good to have a sample of the Peach base just in case.

I'm sure this question has been answered before but the the same ratios apply for the different coverages? If I'm doing 1:3 (warm gold, ivory) in medium coverage would I do the heavy the same way? Ican't way to being the chemisty experiment~

Hey Jen!!

So after much playing this week, I got around to posting a pic of my latest foundation experiment, it's in the FOTD thread here: http://host.silknaturals.com/forum/view ... 111#p24111 (trying to avoid posting my giant mug all over the forum! )

I've thought a lot on the "combination of undertones" thing and came up with a blend that I think matches pretty well undertone wise. It's basically Palace and the Yellow Booster mixed with the Medium Foundation Ivory I have on hand. Tone wise it works, matching the coloring in my face and chest (though my neck is still that creamier yellow in contrast). But, if I apply it in the normal, heavy layer I usually do, it has a whitish cast, I'm assuming because it lacks an actual brown to counteract that? I'm thinking about ordering the Original foundation ivory and trying the same blend in hopes the lower opacity of the Original will result in less of a whitish cast?

If not, I think my only other option right now is to wear the Olive blend and tint my perfecting powder with the orange/yellow combo to counteract the dullness I get when wearing the olive foundation. That way I have the coverage I need until I can find a better way to create that color...

ETA: Color-wise the blend I made looks like apricot if I had to put a name to it, pale orange yellow.

It looks good! I know what you mean about seeming to miss the brown. I do think your instincts are correct in that the Original will be more fogiving with the whitish cast. What about adding a small amount of Olive to your Palace/Yellow mix?

I recently discovered Silk Naturals and have ordered a few items (blush and finishing powder) but have been a little afraid to get into the foundation to be honest. I will apologize in advance for the long post, I did try to read through many of the posts in this thread to get ideas but realized pretty quickly that I wasn't going to be able to get through all the pages.

I am in my late 40's and have been using MMU for a few years now after decades of not wearing any makeup at all. I don't have any pictures of myself but here are some stats:
-I don't look good in gold tones, white gold or silver metals are much better on me
-I have green eyes and reddish brown hair
-I burn easily but can get slightly tanned
-the veins on the inside of my arms are blue
-I think I look best in browns and jewels tones and really saturated colours. Yellows are out for me as are pastels.

This leads me to believe I am a neutral to cool tone. I am currently using BE medium beige during the winter and not much of anything during the summer because I feel the medium beige is a bit heavy for summer. So I am thinking that I should be going with the medium coverage ivory with ebony during the winter months and possibly the light coverage ivory with ebony during the summer. I do use a primer, either the Makeup Forever HD in the blue for brightening or if I am having some problems with redness the green so am also interested in possibly using the green colour booster. What I really don't want to do is to start looking really made up so anything more than the medium coverage is probably not for me. Any thoughts or suggestions? I am more than a little "colour tone deaf" so don't have a lot of confidence that I can mix up a foundation and be able to make a determination about how well it matches me and adjust accordingly but I would really like to start using the Silk Naturals for all stages of my makeup routine.

Tache...
You sound right on track for color and coverage. I am guessing your ratio in Ebony will be close to 1 scoop ebony and 5 scoops white base. There are ways to adjust the color if something is not quite right about Ebony on its own, but it sounds like the right place to start.

If shipping is a concern for you, I would consider getting the Original Perfect Harmony Sample Kit, plus a Sample Kit of Medium Coverage Ivory. (The color bases you will need all come in the PH Kit along with the Original (Light) formula....only Medium Coverage base plus a jar comes in the other.) Otherwise, just start with what you think you need.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I was actually very pleasantly surprised at the shipping costs to Canada so I am not really worried about that. Add to that the great prices and I feel as though I have found a gold mine.

Can I just ask a couple more questions? Will the Original Perfect Harmony Sample Kit have enough ebony tint to test with both the light and medium coverage or would you recommend I purchase a separate sample of ebony along with the Medium Ivory coverage? Also can I mix the light and medium ivory base to get something in between if I find the medium too dark?

Thanks again for the suggestions.
