Hello,
I want to get into silk naturals skin care inspired by so many nice reviews.
the problem is where do i start? there is a lot of choice.
my skin is slightly on the dry side, with past winter eczema on the cheeks.(i have a moderately oily T zone, but not too big a deal, cheeks are what im most concerned about). i have been using dermalogica, it cured my eczema to a great extent. currently, i have slight redness where the eczema used to be. but i want a natural and more afforadble alternative.
for the summer, i am looking for a rather light moisturizer because i live in a really warm climate. for the winter, i will get something richer and heavier. what shall i get? you can also suggest serums, and treatments as well.
also another question: i am using sunblock by dr. hauschka, which is not a chemical block, and really leaves a white film.. and SO difficult to take off in the evening. is there any sunblock from silk naturals? and how do you take off your sunblock ?
thanks a bunch!

Hi Deedee,
I would suggest the apricot oil cleanser (really gentle but good for even oily skin, I am super acne prone and I love it) and the oatmeal serum (very moisturising and gentle, and oatmeal is good for eczema). None of the SN moisturisers really work for me that well, they are mostly very light (gel like), but maybe the intensive moisturiser might work for you.
SN doesn't sell any actual sunblock (it is a real pain because it is regulated and has to undergo all sorts of tests etc.) but the sheer zinc is basically the ingredients they put into the non-chemical sunscreens in powder form, so it won't be as heavy and oily as most natural sunscreens are. Might as well try a sample
(Oh, and zinc is very calming of irritation too, although you may need to use more moisturiser if you use the zinc powder, my skin is prone to dryness, despite the acne, and I found it a bit drying).

Re: what moist. shall i get?
Hi there!
thanks for your response. i think i will order samples of all the moisturizers and see what works for me.
one question though: i love the idea of zinc powder, but will it leave a white film, like the natural sunblocks do?
what i am doing now is i apply my natural sunblock cream, which is heavy and gives an OILY look, on top of it i apply perfecting powder from SN to make my face matte. and then i apply bronzer to reach a humanly color.
i really want to check out zinc powder, but i hope it wont leave me looking ghostly. and do you think that would work at the beach? with swimming and all?
thanks a bunch!

You can tint the zinc with your foundation (if you have an SN mix, just use your base colour to tint it). Personally I don't think I would trust it at the beach, with no oil to help it adhere it might wash off, but I have heard great things about it for an everyday sunscreen. It did give my skin a whitish cast, but I used it under foundation anyway, so it was OK, and I am pretty pasty anyway

The Zinc finishing powder is pretty sheer. I do tint mine a bit, though, and I am in the light range.
If you want to better remove the Dr. Hashuka that you have, have you tried Apricot Cleansing Oil, or some kind of oil? I don't know anything about the texture of the Dr. Hashuka, but could you tint it slightly in small batches? (Small is importaint in case it does not work, or it separates.) The reason I am recommending trying to tint what you have is that it is marketed as a sunscreen and can make those claims.
Sampling the moisturizers is a good way to start.

Re: what moist. shall i get?
It sounds like emu might be good for you? I love the Zinc, I'm very pale and to be honest I never burn with just the foundation, but if it's very sunny I'll use it as a primer, or mix a little tinted with my foundation for sheerer coverage. I've been out all weekend in the sun and the only place I have pinkness on my face is my nose because my boyfriend aaalways rubs my makeup of my nose with kisses hehehe... sweet but I do look silly
