~Foundation & Powder for oily skin~

Dear Karen, Jen & forum members, I'm a newbie here & want to take the jump into Silk Naturals

My name is Anya and I live in hot, humid country in Asia.

I have fair Chinese skin with mainly yellow undertone with a hint of beige and my foundation shades are:

EDM : Olive Fair / Golden Fair / Fawn
Meow : Frisky Abyssinian / Frisky Manx
Lucy Minerals : Pale Olive / Cream & Snow White mix

I love the finish of Lucy Minerals foundation the most! I look like I’m NOT wearing ANY foundation YET it gives great coverage, however I still got shiny very quickly.

I always prime & finish with Silica Powder but I still get shiny very quickly and most foundations still accentuate big pores in my nose & looked cakey, so my priorities in foundation & primer/finishing powder are:
oil control
staying power
blurs pores & imperfections (without accentuate pores!)
finish

My skin conditions:
oily
pores
hormonal cystic acne
acne scars

1. Does Silk Naturals in Buttery Gold & Ivory mix sound like the perfect match for me?

2. How do the Medium Coverage vs. Heavy Coverage compare in the above priorities/qualities mentioned above (oil control, staying power,
blurs pores & imperfections, finish)?

3. I'm running low on Silica Powder, so I'm looking for the one BEST multi-tasking powder that I can use on days when I wear no makeup at all, and can be dual-functioned as primer & finishing powder. So I'm wondering how:
Oil Control Blur / Oil Control Primer / Perfecting Powder / Pure Silk Powder / Ultra Sheer Zinc / Ultimate Luxury Treatment Powder compare & perform in the the above priorities/qualities mentioned above (oil control, staying power, blurs pores & imperfections, finish)?

4. What are the shelf life of:
Foundation
Ultra Sheer Zinc Powder
Ultimate Luxury Treatment Powder
Oil Control Primer
Oil Control Blur
Perfecting Powder
I believe Silk Powder has about 3 year shelf life.

I can't really answer some of your questions,and for that I'm sorry. BUT have you ever tried oil blotting papers? They suck the oil right off your face!

I have oily skin and the heavy foundation doesn't slide around on my face when I get oily.The trick to using blotter papers is to not use them last minute. Oil removes makeup,so if you're heavily oily and put something on your face,it might slide it around.

I'm in my mid-30s and have very oily skin. By the time I get to work in the morning, I'm usually ready for a blot!

As for a primer, I highly recommend the ultra-sheer zinc powder. It's one of the best products in the entire line. I've tried the primer, I've tried the blur and perfecting powder as primers, and I think the zinc is just as efficient and offers more benefits to boot. The heavy foundation will probably be too much coverage. I wear the original, and I think it's fine, but one who wants more might go with the medium instead.

The OC blur will probably be best in terms of absorbing oil, but I use a blend of Tempt Tryst and untinted OC Blur because I love the color of TT.

I've been using SN for over two years, and I'm a big proponent of the skincare as well. I have very few makeup products that aren't SN (things like eyeshadow primer, mascara and eyeliner) and mine stays applied all day.

As for oil blotting papers, I have a superior alternative. Oil blotting film is what you need. I keep a pack at work, a pack at home, and a pack in my purse. Don't waste your money on the fancy-expensive kind from Sephora, just get the Clean & Clear. Sometimes you can even find a generic store brand of this product at CVS which is even more economical. The film is blue, almost a plasticy-feeling film, and works better than papers in absorbing oil.

everyone's skin is different; I think it is best that you get samples of those that you are interested and test them out on your skin.

For my case, I think I have dehydrated combination skin and I live in Singapore (hot + humid + ridiculously cold air-conditioning in the malls/offices). I can't wear EDM, it turned me into a melting wax figurine. For SN, I prefer the original + a bit of glow foundation over heavy coverage (I apply in thin layers to get the coverage I like; the heavy coverage seems to cake on me). I like using SN's perfecting powder as a finishing powder -- I don't even need to blot or touch up. Without the perfecting powder, my forehead, nose and sides of nose get slightly shiny after lunch time. Some ladies had mentioned that the Zinc powder worked great in combating their oilies but it made it worse for me. I guess it was due to my dehydrated skin.

Toilet seat covers,napkins,and actual paper blotter sheets always smudge my makeup and don't have nearly as much oil absorbency as Clean and Clear does.Walgreens also has a generic of the Clean and Clear ones for a buck cheaper I think.

I'm pretty oily and ordered a sample of the zinc powder.I will let you know how that is when I receive it.
