Reviews on SN Website!

Post by JenK » Thu Jun 24, 2010 2:27 pm

I just wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to write reviews on the website. I find it very helpful!! I always read them before I purchase a product.

I agree, I always read the reviews about what products I am interested in buying, but then I also read all the others and end up a gazillion more products in my wishlist!!!!

I find it particularly helpful when the reviewer includes their skin type, skin tone and eye color. If someone with similar colorings to me really loves a product then I am much more likely to give it a try.

Yes I totally agree. I have been reading a bunch of reviews since I am trying to get an order together. It really helps us newer customers. I need to go write a few myself.

I've been throwing in a bazillion samples to every order recently. So I wrote tons of reviews in hopes they'd help someone.

It's always smart to read reviews, but you still should buy some samples. Their skincare samples are really fun to throw in your order anyways. Makes your package nice and fat.=P

The best reviews always explain reasons. To say "I didn't like it" helps no-one. To say "the reason why I did(n't) like it is because... ", that's a lot more helpful. Reasons give people ways to relate the other person's experience to their own tastes and helps predict their own responses. I think many of the reviewers here have been particularly helpful, objective and factual and that's really built up a useful review library.

(Missyjean - samples are great fun and the best way to make sure a product's right for you. I may be entirely out of order saying this, so I'm happy to be corrected, but I would be a little hesitant at encouraging excessive sampling, just purely on a 'kindness' basis. When I say "excessive", I'm assuming from your description that you're buying multiples of the same product, rather than fairly trying one or two of everything, as intended.

Samples at SN are priced so low that its been said before that they actually cost the company money. It's one way they try to be very helpful to new customers and make sure that they're happy with the products. Two years on and I still tuck a sample or two into some orders for things I haven't tried, but I felt just a slight twinge of "ooh maybe that's not a good idea..." when I read what you wrote about stuffing parcels with samples. No harm or offence meant at all, just a very gentle suggestion that excessive sampling might not be a wise idea long-term. Unless, of course, SN say otherwise and I'll totally shut up! )

Nope! I never get doubles or more of the same product in a sample size. :D

Bazillion translated into a few.I'm an exaggerator. :P

Hehe : 8-) I know the feeling. I might have peppered praise with a few too many superlatives myself, now and then. ;) I've had more than one of the same sample, but that's because it gets thieved out of freshly opened parcels before I can get my grubby paws on them. Or it's "ooh can you order that for me... ooh, and that, too... and... " Especially early on (when I was busy converting my Avon ladies  ) I sometimes wondered if the SN HQ were thinking I was racketeering their samples! Converted a few addicts, some so new to minerals that they still have that 'minty-fresh' smell ;)

I just wish that I could enter my actual haircolor- I'm actually strawberry blonde, but I mark blonde since I'm closer to that, but I hope I'm not misleading folks.

Oh, I'm sure you could mention your actual color! Many ladies give a little more description, like if they have pigmented lips and such too.

Ophelia......you are making me laugh about the hair color thing. I have been coloring my hair so long I forget it's actual *real* color. Right now it it dark brown with tons of blonde and red highlights and light brown lowlights. What box would I check? ........Usually I just close my eyes and point.......Well, actually I usually pick red, as my skin is very fair with yellow undertones and freckles, and my eyes are hazel green. But it is a conundrum.....
