tpzhearts,
Blur might be a good option, but the Perfecting Powders have a similar effect with more color choice. All I can suggest is to try a sample.

In Revlon Colorstay - I'm a Sandy Beige and in their PhotoReady Line, I'm in Nude.

I think I'm between a NC25-30 (never been color matched).

What color mixture would you recommend? Also, I'm trying to cover blemishes (acne scars) and in EDM in matte and even intensive formula, it doesn't cover completely, what formula would you recommend to cover it pretty well? Thank you! :)
Thanks for getting the pic. It helped. I would start with Warm Gold. Probably about 1:8 (1 scoop color to 8 white). If you try that and it is not right, we can go from there. I really suggest making a concealer in Heavy Coverage and then going with Medium Coverage all over. The same ratio for both will work, and the concealer (Heavy mix) will end up slightly lighter than the Medium mix.

I just want to say that I mixed my foundation for the first time last night and I think I may have a perfect match! :D It's too good to be true, not sure if I believe it yet. My mix: 7 scoops Ivory to 1 ebony (medium) or 6 Ivory 1 ebony (heavy). I also got a sample of the date bait - is this supposed to be worn all over? I like it over my blush but am scared to put it all over, because it seems so pink...thanks!

Good job on the mixing......Date Bait is for all over....or wherever you feel like wearing it. I tend to wear it all over. Sometimes I even mix it right into my foundation.

Hello!
I'm new here. I just received the Med kit and have mixed a few concoctions...none of which seem quite right. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

I started with a 1:2 ratio of the buttery gold. Seemed orange. then 1 buttery gold, 1 warm gold to 4 ivory. This looked even oranger.

So I went to the olive. Started at 1:4. This still seemed way too orange. On my arm these don't look too bad as far as color match. They seem a little ashy/light, though. (My arm is a bit darker than my face)

I am trying to match more to my neck/chest which is always a tad darker than my face. I also did swatches on my chest, and still all three of these combos seem too orange. Now this is all in sunlight. In the regular florescent light in my bathroom these are all passable but not dead on.

I am leaning to the buttery gold with ivory since it is the less orange of the bunch. I have it at 1:8(it's OK but not perfect) I just am stumpted as to what I am missing.

I have added a few pictures. The middle one looks the most similar to my natural skintone now. The first was summer, so there's a slight tan. The last is with a makeup(badly matched!) and no tan. I am somewhere between the first and second picture. Sorry if this is too confusing. No wonder I am having a hard time!

Should I go to a completely diff color base? Maybe I am just way off on my color. I seem to have yellow undertones with greenish looking veins. I am naturally light but will tan very fast and get fairly dark.

Thanks so much!

Asking the "what formula should I use" question...

I'm quite pale and usually have problems finding matches in mainstream foundation lines - usually the lightest shade available isn't pale enough, or if it is, it either makes me look ashy and dead or turns orange as the day wears on. (Bare Minerals Fair was pale enough, but made me look sickly. Just because I have pasty skin and wear mostly-black clothes doesn't mean I want to actually look like a corpse. :P ) I tan rather than burn, although my version of a "tan" is more like a normal person's skintone, have mostly greenish veins, and naturally have ashy dark blonde hair but have always looked much better with warm tones in my hair and warm or neutral shades of clothing. When the sample kit I ordered yesterday arrives, how should I mix it? Should I add a little Date Bait, as I was thinking of trying it, use that separately, or not at all? Also, I got a sample of the medium-coverage Ivory to see which coverage level works best; what mix should I use for that? Thanks!

Amila,
Your first several mixes were definitely too dark, but I see you settled around a 1:8 in Buttery Gold/Medium. Buttery Gold is the least pigmented of all the bases you tried (only Ebony is a little less pigmented than Buttery Gold.) I would really give Olive a try. You need to mix it at about 1:11 or 12 for the right depth. Generally, if a foundation is too orange, it is too dark.

desida,
Since you are very pale it is harder to predict which base will be best for you. According to your coloring, I would say Ebony in a heartbeat. However, we have found that the very fair tend to do better with Buttery Gold. A combo of the two might be right, but I would start with the Buttery. In your case the Ivory numbers will be very high. I don't think I would try to measure whole scoops of colored base. Just to give an idea, in Ebony you will be about a 1:14+, in Buttery Gold a 1:17+. I would probably start with about 6 Ivory scoops and add as close as you can to a 1/4 or less scoop of the color.

For the Date Bait...experiment a little. I usually don't recommend mixing a huge batch of foundation plus finisher together, and by using a swirly bowl (mine is a stainless steel condiment bowl from Ikea), you can mix the Date Bait and foundaiton as you load your brush. That way you are not stuck later.

I just recently tried EDM's Abbott's Perk Me Up concealer, and I really like how the peachyness corrects my dark circles. However it's a little too dark, which Sleep in a Jar would be a slightly lighter version of Abbott's: Light Peach or Medium?

Here's my jar of Abbott's:

And 1 scoop of Medium coverage Ivory = ? scoops of original ivory
Thank you ;)

Ready to try other foundation options! However, I need some direction colorwise. I have a sample kit with original on its way to me. I also have medium & vegan base samples. TIA!

After reading many awesome reviews of Silk Naturals - I am ready to place my first order but I'm unsure of where I need to begin. A little bit about me - I am 40 yrs old and have some roscea (sp?) on my cheeks, have the monthly breakout, and have some slight circles under my eyes. I am wanting something that gives medium coverage (even out my skin), even though I have oily skin, I do not want a matte finish - I want a natural look. While the thought of mixing my own foundation is a little intimidating to me - I am tired of ordering samples of MMU that don't match. No matter what I do - I just can't seem to find a match. Right now I am using EGM's Daphne - and this seems to be the closest I have found. I believe I have light to medium skin with neutral undertones. This is what I have on my list so far, so any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated:

Perfect Harmony sample kit in medium coverage ( I am thinking of ordering a sample of the original as well just in case the medium is too heavy)
Date Bait
Pristine (I love that this is the match to BE Pure Radiance - I used it years ago and fell in love with it)
Unblush (for my redness - I have tried green concealers in the past and they make me look sick)
Sleep in a jar (for under eye circles - but I am wondering if I need the extra light peach???)

Also, I read on another website that the best way to apply SN is with the flat top long handle brush - is this true? While I'm not wanting to spend $17.50 on a brush - if it helps, then I will. Right now I am using the brush I got with my last purchase of BE (not the kabuki brush).

Thanks for your help...
