Hi all!
Can I mix some Unblush with SN foundation (app. 10 scoops Ivory, 1-1 1/2 scoops Ebony, 2-3 scoops Perfecting Powder) to cut the pinky-ish shade and to cover the redness on my face? Would it be compatible with the foundation pigments and ingredients?
I use a mixture of Medium and Heavy bases.

Yes.....you can mix some Unblush into your mix to counteract some of the pink. The ingredients are very similar.

Thank you Jen. Can you also advice me what to do as the foundation tends to turn a bit orangey-yellowish at the end of the day? I need a creamy moisturizer for base because my skin is pretty dry and dehydrated (and mature) so a gel based serum doesn't really help for that?

The orangish-yellowish at the end of the day is likely oil. Oil tends to make the pigments slightly darker. I am not sure that end of the day oil can really be avoided, but you might try lightening your foundation a little. Gel based serums are great for hydrating the skin without adding more oil.

regretfully I've never get to my perfect match, and I'm carzy about the coverage.
I'm an olive with yellow skin tone.
I use in the heavy formula that its great..

Hi Simha,
I figure that you have tried our Warm Gold and Buttery Gold. Did you ever try the Olive? It runs quite a bit darker than the other two so you will need more white to get the proper depth. If Olive is not yellow or green enough, you can add in the Yellow booster and/or Green Booster a little at a time.

I want to share my story "How I was looking for my shade".
I was afraid to mix a foundation myself and I tried many other mineral makeup lines. First I liked the result - it was muuuch better then Chanel and Mary Kay I liked before. But as the time passed and I tried other SN cosmetics - I fell in love and became a real addict. (OMG, what am I saying) And I decided to give SN foundation a try. Now I was very anxious to get my Starter Kit and when I did I was happy.
I read the instruction sheet very carefully, then took a look at the bags with pigments and was frightened I was afraid to spoil smth and had no idea which one to take. I followed the instruction - to draw a line with the base and dust colors to choose between them. I looked ant my forearm and still had no idea. I took several empty jars, signed them and made 3 1:1 mixes: peach, warm gold and ebony. Too dark. I was adding base and checking the result at each step. Finally I got 1colored:7 base in all three jars and they all looked nice, but not perfect. I spent almost a week wearing all these shades, testing them in different light.
In the guide Karen wrote: you will understand what is needed. I really did! I started mixing these mixes and found 3 personal matches!
The one with more Warm Gold for the electric light, "Ebony" for day light and "Peach" for summer months. I have already tanned a little and I added some peachy mix to my regular mix.
It took me about 2 weeks to start "feeling" the colors. First I thought that I "spoiled' some base by trying Buttery gold, but I "fixed' it by adding Ebony and some glow. So don't be afraid to try!
I also mixed my perfect spot concealers using heavy coverage base and a foundation for my periods when I need extra coverage with the medium.
It is very-very important to write down all your steps and your impressions.

I've recently started playing around a bit more with my recipe as well!

Ebony was the first base I tried and the first batch of foundation I made matched my skin so much better than any other foundation I'd ever tried that I never dared to mess with the recipe... only every time I'd make a new batch, I'd never get the mix right the first time (I guess my scooping isn't very consistent), and if the blend was just a tiny bit too dark, it would look way too orange on my face. This got a bit annoying after a while, I can deal with my foundation being too dark but not too orange!

So a while ago I was ordering some glow foundation base, because I was starting to look a bit too powdery and dry and matte at the end of the winter, and that's when I remembered reading Xarata's signature on the forum, and seeing she'd added the Lavender Colour Corrector to her recipe, thinking, well that's clever, lavender acts against orange. So I ordered some, mixed a new batch of foundation and it worked! So simple yet so brilliant. Now I don't have to worry about having an oddly orange face. Aaand the glow really makes me look more glowy and not powdery at all.

That's what makes Karen's foundations and powders so great!!! They are all so wonderfully interactive.....they work well alone, but they also work fantastically(is that a word?) together in whatever various ways we choose to mix them together.
If you were to ask every gal on the forum here, you'd probably find that we all *tweak* our mix in one way or another, and we all have our favorite powder to use as a base or color corrector or finisher. There really is no *wrong way* to do it.
