I'll vouch for the oil cleansing method too- it wows me what it does with pores- it gets every last bit of gunk out of them!

I normally use either Jojoba or organic sunflower oil- they're really compatible with skin, and cheaper than EVOO.

One of these years when I figure out how to ship liquids affordibly we'll start selling my home-brew (I mix in an emulsifier so it's water rinsable).

Oil Cleansing is AMAZING. I remember when I lined with a mint shadow and those FD&C dyes would not come OFF. A little EVOO did the trick! I did get it on my eyeball though-that was an interesting experience/feeling... lol. The oil based creams work good too and they don't spread.

Karen-All of the liquid skincare i order (even from different companies) comes taped with electrical tape and put in a ziplock bag (to double prevent leaks) and then shipped in a priority mail box (usually costs me around $5-$7. I've ordered full size liquids and lotions from companies like Sarafina and Lure). Liquid samples have come taped and bagged the same way but i've recieved some in padded mailers or even priority mail envelopes. Of all the products I've ever ordered I've only had about 2 leak and they didn't leak very much. Hope we get to see all your goodies soon!

I saw this post and had to check it out...
After doing some research on the web, I decided to try it, but I use jojoba oil instead of olive oil. My question to you ladies do you use this method everyday? Do you a moisturizer after it? I have been doing it at night only and in the morning I wash with just water.. I dab a bit of the jojoba oil on my face where it is dry cheeks and such since I do have combination skin. So I use it as a moisturizer as well... I am still playing around with the oil though, i think i would like to try sunflower oil but was not sure how it would work.
Any advice about this would be great, I think that it is such a better way to wash your face than using all of those other products on it!

I use jojoba oil with a tiny bit of castor oil. If I put too much castor oil in it it makes my face too dry and flaky. I try to do the oil cleansing every other day, and I have dry skin. Usually I don't need to moisturize afterwards but if I do I just put a little jojoba on my hands, rub them together, and gently dap my face. I've also tried doing that all over my body after I shower and it works beautifully! Here's a link to the website that I learned a lot from:

I like anything that can be home brewed. Especially when it means cost savings.

I discovered using oil as a cleanser, years back when a Japanese make up company (Fancl) started selling their "magic" solution -- mild cleansing oil. I find it quite expensive.

So thanks for the links. I'm going to enjoy finding a nice home brew recipe to replace the expensive store bought one.

My routine is usually to use the oil to cleanse off the make up, then another foaming cleanser to clean off the oil.

I mix 3 parts jojoba with 1 part castor, but may need to cut back on the castor a bit, and I have combo skin. I use my home made rosewater glycerin toner sometimes, it's fine without any extra cleansing. Just started, but so far so good

I have combination skin too. Some parts are just dry and some parts get very very oily.

Here is the basic recipe, kinda combined it from what I could find from homemade beauty sites:
toner:
2/3 cup water (or rose water)
1/3 cup witch hazel
1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
1 teaspoon aloe (natural is best, kinda liquidy)
8-10 drops of rose oil
few drops of tea trea oil for antibacterial properties
few drops grapefruit seed oil

Adjust it to your needs, I usually put a bit more aloe and glycerin in it. I use the same rose oil on my face, and I like the smell, so that's my addition to the recipe I store it in a spray bottle, use it to finish my makeup or to refresh my skin during the day. It was also awesome on the plane during my last two times I flew to Europe. You can either spray on cottonballs to use as toner, or do what I do for my 'i-don't-cleanse-my-face-at-night-unless-it's-superconvenient' boyfriend: pre-soak thicker kind of cotton rounds (like from target) in a container, so they are ready to grab and go.
The source for most of that stuff is mountainroseherbs.com. I made the rosewater myself, distilling it from petals, but I'm sure you can buy some already made too. In fact, I know Burt's Bees sells something similar, I just prefer the custom stuff and of course you can't beat the price in the long run

I can't wait to try to make this recipe on my own. Now I just have to figure out where to find all the ingredients in Singapore.
