?'s about Gleaming,Sparkle,Swank

Post by JenK » Thu Jan 07, 2010 3:16 pm

If I am looking for more depth, shine, sparkle or to cool down/up or warm up/down are these what I would use (Gleaming/Sparkle/Swank)?

Also, how do these look alone. Even after reading about Sparkle all I can see is twiggy.

I would imagine you could also tweek so-so colors into little beauties.

Thanks

I don't have Swank, although I am intrigued by it. Do you wear it alone or was it specifically made to alter other lippie colors?

I have Gleaming, which I use to warm up some of the Pink lippies that are too cool for me. It works really well for that and I have worn it alone, but I have to go lightly otherwise it looks kind of weird on me, too much gold for me. Same with Sparkle looks good but I have to use sparingly, might just be my coloring though.

Gleaming is very golden. A light layer will warm up your lips considerably. Tread with caution unless gold/warm looks good on you.

Swank is cool, and has a semi-goth look to it, but it's very wearable.

I don't own Sparkle but from seeing it in others' photos, it looks like it primarily lightens your lips, but doesn't make them frosty.

Seems like all three of them look good on just about anybody. Unless your skin is very warm or very cool, I'm guessing you could wear all three.

Another option is XXX as a foundation layer under lippies that are so-so - it can change the look dramatically if you have pigmented lips.

Ladies thanks for your help.

I just remembered I have Modern Poet, I tried it out on a few colors that were a hint too cool and it created the color I am looking for. I may give Ice Princess a try to help cool down colors that are too warm. Vintage and Frolic look great too!! Too many to choose from!!!

I have all three and use them primarily to change other colors, although they can be worn on their own.
I layer Sparkle to lighten the colors that go over it, sort of as a base, but not true base like an eye shadow primer. It does add a bit of sparkle. It's easy to overdo and end up with frosted lips, so you only need a light layer.

I put gleaming on top of colors when I want a bit of golden oomph.

Swank, well, I do wear this by itself when I do a dramatic eye look and I want more than just my own nude lips. It gives them a bit of darkness, but not over the top at all, along with some shine.
