JenW, What serum would you suggest for someone with this issue?

In the winter...I always make sure I use a hydrating mist. Right now I am using our Pore Refining Toner with a mister and loving it...just a few sprays adds a good amount of hydration. For a hydrating serum in the winter, I use the Oatmeal Serum. Other serums that will work well are the Rose and Green Tea & Aloe if the Oatmeal does not agree with you. I do still use the serums with the more complex actives, and I just use the Oatmeal after them. For moisturizer I have been using the Daily Defense or a carrier oil mixed with my Firming Moisturizer to make it just a little heavier.

So to simplify what I use in order....
Cleanser, Toner (usually Pore Refining unless it is my night to AHA or BHA), Active Serum, Oatmeal Serum, Moisturizer (possibly mixed with extra oil). I try to allow a little time for some of the layers to skink in a bit.

What have we tried so far? Did we ever try Peach? I am wondering if the Golden in Warm Gold was too overpowering, and we need to try Peach with a Yellow Booster......
I've been afraid to even consider trying the peach because I've heard it's well, very peach. But maybe that makes sense since I seem to have both warm and cool tones. When I wore Val's Cover Deluxe it was an equal mix of C1 and W1. I have to admit I've been giving serious thought to just using up that and then going to Sephora and, gasp, go back to that c#@& liquid I used to use before mmu.I hear they are better now. It is so frustrating trying to find that good match again. I think it's harder when you're fair because it seems more noticeable when it's off... Isn't it funny how minerals change our perspective, before them we didn't care so much about that perfect match.

Lyn-
It is very peach...but really it is just the darkest base. It might take 1 scoop to 18 or more Ivory for you. You can get it light enough, though. It might be a good idea to give it a try before you give up....you might wonder, otherwise.

I do understand the frustration. I am so pale right now, I am thinking I need to add a little Peach into my Olive mix as it is looking too green. I change colors so often through the seasons....it is amazing that I don't go through all the colors in the rainbow...cooler toned in winter and warmer in summer.... I also have the hardest time sticking with the plan (skincare and otherwise) in the winter. My skin is just not as cooperative because it is so dry. It usually pays off, though.

Thanks Jen for all your help!

between my last post and this one, I have been experimenting alot with different ratios and mixes, and i think i have found a suitable match.

I was having alot of problems coming up with my match because (and i only recently realised this) my face is slightly pink while my neck is yellow! that's why buttery gold did not look right, and warm gold matched my face better but made it too pink compared to my neck.

So..i tried a Buttery Gold mix again, this time with a little yellow colour booster (i think it was less than a third of a scoop) to help brighten it up a little, since it was too dull the last time. Sadly, all the testing in between meant that my current batch is a partial one, and i'm not entirely sure of the ratios, but it's something like 1 buttery gold: 25 original ivory: ~1/4 yellow booster. I didn't think i'd need so much white! I'm probably considered fair but not pale. In fact, the current mix seems to make me looks a bit tan, i might add another scoop of ivory and see if that's better. I think the white "diluted" the golden in buttery gold, that's why I needed so much of it? I'll have to keep this batch as a comparison and mix up a new, more accurate batch so that I can take note of the proper ratios..

For testing it is best to just put the scoops of powder in a jar and shake it up very well.

Use the scoop just like you do in the kitchen...level it off on the side of the sample baggie and then tap it into the jar. Put the lid on and shake.

Hi Lena,
I think you need to try our Warm Gold. I know you mentioned that you are paler now than in the picture. Try 1 scoop WarmGold and about 7 scoops of White. You may need to add one or two more scoops of the White, but I think the 1:7 will be close.

Annika, you and I have very similar tones from your pic. I thought I got it bang on when I lightened the olive up, but now I'm wondering if I should add a touch of buttery or warm gold to it. When you say a little, how much do exactly you mean?
My current mix (still mixing small batches because I only have samples so far) is 14 ivory + 1.25 olive + 0.25~0.5 buttery gold. Olive is much darker and more intensive than the BG is so it's really not a lot of BG. It's scary how dead on this mix is for me, I find myself applying LOTS of foundation because I just can't see that it's there!
I think next time I will order the Olive starter kit and just warm it up a bit with the BG sample I have left; when that's finished I'll take it one step further and order the yellow booster.
I know Jen has recommended the yellow color booster, but i'm not in the position to get any right now... so i have to work with what i have (which is buttery gold and yellow gold). Which would be better to tweak the olive with ?
I guess it depends on your skin tone - the warm gold has some pink in it that the buttery gold lacks. For me, BG was a natural choice because I have zero pink in my skin but quite a lot of yellow. I could *almost* wear BG on its own but it's not perfect, I look "fresher" somehow with Olive. I was better off using only Olive but with a touch of BG to warm it up I found my perfect match.

HTH!
Well, I had a little bit of foundation left in my bowl and i added just a smidgen of buttery gold to that and it nearly disappeared on my skin! Im going to try to add some to my batch. i don't have a lot of samples to work with and im scared to mess it up. right now i think i have about 1 olive to 12 scoops of ivory.

Jen, if you are out there, how much buttery gold would you suggest? what would a smidgen be in a full batch? .25 like Annika? I think the original question might have gotten lost among the others over the holidays. I know you recommend the yellow color booster, but right now its not possible for me to get any.

Hi!

I just found out about Silk Naturals, I'm eager to try it out! What colours would you recommend? Foundation, concealer, blush, eye shadows... everything! :)

I've heard that i have "spring colours". My hair is reddish/dark blonde, my eyes are grey/blue, my skin is light. I do not tan easily. I tend to look my best in bright pink, turquoise but warm shades. I think I have yellow undertones, but I have no idea if I also have pink ones..

I have tried BE foundation, "Light", which I think worked for me.

I don't have a picture with me without make up, but this one may give you a hint?

Thank you,
/Lillpinglan
