Light Olive is pretty yellow......I would start with Buttery Gold....1 scoop color to about 6 or 7 Ivory. If that does not work, it might help if you could pm me a pic.awolos wrote:I need foundation help:) I thought I could just mix up my own without knowing anything haha and needless to say it didn't work and it looks grey somehow?? SO I normally wear light olive from EDM does anyone know what would be close to that without being too green that my face looks grey and wierd?? TIA<3

We do have some color info on this page: http://www.silknaturals.com/creb/inform ... ?info_id=7stefami wrote:Hi Jen, new question here.
I posted a couple of weeks ago, and tried your suggestions, but apparently I'm harder to match than I thought. I tried the 1 warm gold to to 5 or 6 scoops of ivory, but that was really too pink and dark for me. My previous EDM foundation of Buff- light neutral was a lot more peacher on me than I realized. So instead I am trying 1 buttery gold to about 7 ivory, which is a lot closer, but it seems like I am missing some brown?
So, my question is, what do each of the foundation bases have in them in terms of colors? Like if I am looking for more brown, should I try Olive or Ebony? Or more yellow? I know there are boosters for olive, peach and yellow, but I think understanding the composition of each of the bases will help me understand how to make a better mix. Thanks!
You would get just brown from Ebony or Olive.
Is the amount of yellow right? It may also be that you just need Buttery Gold at a 1:6.....

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
I think you will need Ebony at about a 1:8. When you get a tan, do you golden up? If you find a winter match with Ebony, I am guessing you will need to darken it with Warm Gold in the summer...... You also might find that a slight amount of the Warm gold will brighten your foundaiton up if the Ebony is too flat.CalamityJ wrote:Hi,
Looking for help on a base color.
I have tried EDM's Beige Light Medium - in the summer it's ok but in the winter it looks dirty on my face.
I tan easy in the summer, but become very pale in our dark northern winter.
For undertones, the veins on my eyelids and wrists are purple, or blue-purple.
EDM's buffs were too yellow on me. Cools look too pink on me. Estee Lauder Ivory Beige N2 is a good match on me.
Any help would be appreciated on what to try.
Thanks,

Hi Lyn,pinkfox wrote:Have decided to go back to the drawing board one last try. I had thought an Olive/Ebony mix was the one. Then I had the silly pics we took the first day of school developed and thought definitely not! So I need somewhere to go from here. Excuse the awful pic but it's the only one I have in sunlight with the SN mix. If it helps, Earthen Glow's Zoe was workable, but I much prefer SN! Thanks
What have we tried so far? Did we ever try Peach? I am wondering if the Golden in Warm Gold was too overpowering, and we need to try Peach with a Yellow Booster......

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
My current mix (still mixing small batches because I only have samples so far) is 14 ivory + 1.25 olive + 0.25~0.5 buttery gold. Olive is much darker and more intensive than the BG is so it's really not a lot of BG. It's scary how dead on this mix is for me, I find myself applying LOTS of foundation because I just can't see that it's there!UmEnis wrote:Annika, you and I have very similar tones from your pic. I thought I got it bang on when I lightened the olive up, but now I'm wondering if I should add a touch of buttery or warm gold to it. When you say a little, how much do exactly you mean?Annika wrote: For now I wear a blend of Olive with just a little Buttery Gold because that's the samples I got and it is a PERFECT match. I never found a match this good in any other brand.

I think next time I will order the Olive starter kit and just warm it up a bit with the BG sample I have left; when that's finished I'll take it one step further and order the yellow booster.
I guess it depends on your skin tone - the warm gold has some pink in it that the buttery gold lacks. For me, BG was a natural choice because I have zero pink in my skin but quite a lot of yellow. I could *almost* wear BG on its own but it's not perfect, I look "fresher" somehow with Olive. I was better off using only Olive but with a touch of BG to warm it up I found my perfect match.I know Jen has recommended the yellow color booster, but i'm not in the position to get any right now... so i have to work with what i have (which is buttery gold and yellow gold). Which would be better to tweak the olive with ?
HTH!
1 Olive : 14 Ivory (original) + a smidge of Buttery Gold
Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
I tried buttery gold on its own 1:6 and that was a little dark for me ( DH said it's the darkest he's ever seen on me, but I think that's just cause he never pays attention). So next I tried 1.5 BG, .5 WG and 14 ivory, and that is a pretty good match ( the best yet for me, ever I think), but not perfect. I'm still gonna play around and see if I can perfect it. Thanks for all the help!

Hello, I 'd like to try SN foundation...
With EDM I was wearing Sweet Almond on summer and Light Almond when I am not tanned ...
I'd like to find a way to balance and to even out my skin tone, because my neck, forehead and chin have a little bit olive undertone, my cheeks and nose are peachy. Most of the time I don't have any blemishes or pimples.
Please give me your suggestions on what to order...
TIA

JenW, What serum would you suggest for someone with this issue?JenW wrote:4wheel-
Definitley give it a try again in the summer. Also, you might want to consider a serum, especailly for winter. I know I can't wear mineral makeup without them in the winter. (I am knocking on the door of 40 and getting drier by the year.)
TIA!

I still would order the Perfect Harmony Sample Kit. The peachy in your cheeks and nose is most likely just a mild skin flushing.....usually, you don't want to match those spots. If your neck, forehead, and chin have olive tones, we can match that, and then add blush to the cheeks and nose.....Galia wrote:Hello, I 'd like to try SN foundation...

I think you are some blend of yellow and olive for undertones. I can't quite tell from your pics whether Olive or Buttery Gold will be better. In Olive you will be around a 1 scoop color to 12 Ivory. In Buttery Gold about a 1 scoop color to 7 Ivory. It might also be a good idea to order an additional Original Ivory sample. I think the Original formula will be your best choice unless you feel you need heavier coverage. It is also the easiest to mix and get a match.
