Color of super defense serum?
I've been using SN's skincare for the last few months and have been completely loving everything... I'm now on my third bottle of Super Defense Serum, and I've noticed that every batch is a dramatically different color. Is this normal for most people? The sample I tried was very dark and viscous, but all subsequent bottles have been very runny and thin, and light colored -- some were even lighter than the simply C serum that I also use. I get the Super Defense Serum b/c of its great ingredients in controlling pimples and antioxidant qualities, but the huge range in color is making me wonder if I'm getting what I think I'm getting?

Re: Color of super defense serum?
I contacted Karen about this once before. The change in color is due to the supplier of the green tea extract I believe. I'm going to post the email Karen sent me about this (hopefully this is ok..Karen/Jen please feel free to edit/delete this post as you see fit!)
Hi xraisonxdetre,
It's great to hear from you. It's not so much of a problem as it is one of the "fun" parts of making natural skin care. The green tea extract that we use in Super Serum is powdered, and very ultra concentrated. It comes from a very trusted supplier who uses ISO 9001 quality control standards, and they make sure that every batch of extract they send us matches their quality standards so that they're active, not contaminated etc. It's my favorite green tea extract and I've used it for years, but each time we order in a new batch it's slightly different in color. Kind of like when you buy strawberries they vary in color a bit.
It happens quite a bit with natural products...in makeup you can adjust the color, and I end-up doing that from time to time, but in skin care because you're dealing with percentages of active ingredients there isn't a lot of room to play or adjust the formulas to make sure the color is right- it's still effective, it's just slightly different looking.
Let me know if you need anything, or have any more questions.
Take care,
Karen
Hope that helps! If you still have any concerns, I would email about it. I got my response within hours. I think its a bit harder to stay updated with all the forum posts

Re: Color of super defense serum?
Thanks for responding and posting Karen's letter! It's useful to know what's up with the color -- I love all of Karen's skincare products so far, but it's still good to have an explanation for why there might be variation.
