edm colors converted to silk naturals?

oh i hi Christine! I had to take a break cos my skin got bumps after my 2nd full face:( Dont know why, but it was either the mmu or the vit e oil. So taking a wee break and will come back to it again. It takes aggges for the blocked pores to go away but they came in less than a day poo. I have a funny feeling that I have a problem with mmu on my oily skin.

Dandy - If it helps, when I stopped using EDM foundation, I had the mother of all breakouts because (eventualy I realised) I'd been driving those minerals deep into my open, oily pores with that coarse kabuki brush and that heavy / coarse textured foundation. It's just clogged me up. I got bumps, then the worst breakouts - my skin was weepy for nearly a fortnight and all I could wear was silk powder dusted over to help heal it. Then a little SN foundation. Oily skin and open pores are signs of dehydration - hydrated skin cells have a stronger structure and help the tight small shape of pores stay functioning better, not wide open and not over-producing oil. When you change from one brand to another, breakouts are not uncommon but a simple answer is that this can be the skin 'flushing out' all those older minerals that got congested into the skin. Happens a lot with skin creams too. Don't worry about it, it's not uncommon (and if you want some help, feel free to PM).

yeah that is what i am thinking esp after asking GOW for help. I have just got a new routine that I am integrating now- only on day 2.. so hopefully my open pores can heal and close up a little and i wont be so oily! btw I havent been using edm for quite a while months, because of the bumps. I enjoyed nice skin for about a month before i tried sn.. so it is unfortunate. clean brushes, try not to buff much.. but neh.. skin no likey. Once it clears up i am going to try using just silk powders and rice powders and see step by step what i can tolerate.. i maybe have a mica sensitivity.

i'm finally able to get back on the forum. have you found your match yet? hey CLP! i have the same problem as you in that foundations are either too yellow or too pink. though i am a bit lighter and maybe a bit yellower than dandy (i wear EDM golden fair but have found that meow frisky manx is a better match for me).

Hi Dandy, I also used to use EDM Beige Fairly Light. Actually I could never quite decide whether I was fairly light or light medium. I'm an NW20 in Mac. I've just recently mixed up some Silk Naturals and I ended up with 1 scoop Ebony, Half a scoop warm gold and 9 scoops of ivory being a pretty good match for me. I hope that helps.

Thanks so much, kiki, for posting this! I tried this "recipe" for my first sample mix the other day, and it was nearly perfect. I only had to tweak it a tiny bit. I never imagined I could find a great match so quickly. When I think about all the time and money I spent trying to find a foundation match from that "other" company.... Grr But this experience with SN was great.

You're very welcome Melon, I'm glad I could help you. I've actually found it a lot easier to get a match by mixing than it was for me to order lots of sample kits from the other company. I think I had about five sample kits in the end, because I thought I was cooler and lighter than I actually am. When I was trying out colours I got asked a lot of times if I was sick. When I finally did work it out I was still a little bit unsure of which one was better. I've also noticed a marked improvement in the texture of my skin both with and without makeup on since I started using SN. I still have three fairly light beiges to use up but I keep reaching for my SN mix instead.

I use Olive - Golden Medium (perfect match btw)

My formula is this:

1 Olive
8 Ivory
3 Cecilia*

*An intense yellow colour from Monave, which I had found near impossible to use until now.

This is a bit unorthodox, but I wanted to use up the Monave pigment that has been lying in my cupboard for years.

The result is quite nice actually. Anyone who uses Monave will know that their minerals are extremely thick and creamy (and I don't mean this in a good way), but the mix with SN turned out well! I think this unorthodox mix looks even better than my EDM (texture-wise).

I used to wear buff perfect in EDM, and I now wear 1olive:11ivory (this works with both the medium and heavy coverage, haven't' tried the vegan or original). Both of these were a pretty much perfect match for me.

On another note, I am getting a bit darker at the moment (it is summer here) and it is really cool that I can just add a little more olive to my mix
