I'm very confused.
When I first got my order I was very sleepy, but I decided to mix up my foundation anyways. I could of sworn I put two scoops of ebony for like 12 or 13 Medium ivory. Then this morning, less sleepy, I mixed up a new batch and I put One scoop of ebony and had to add like twenty something (I lost count because I was in a rush) of medium ivory. What's going on?
I used buff fair neutral in EDM and often had to add white. I'm also still waiting on a sample of warm gold, because I'm worried I might not be a strict ebony.
SN recipe for EDM foundation match?
Re: SN recipe for EDM foundation match?
Devlyn - is it possible that you used the darker ebony for one of the batches? Mixing 2 ebony to 12-13 Ivory would give quite a deeply pigmented foundation that would be in the medium-tan range.
Just looking at Buff Fair Neutral just now on screen, it is indeed very pale - so your second batch with approx 1 scoop of colour to 20 Ivory sounds much more likely to be correct. Are you sure that ebony (pink-cool) is right? A 'strict ebony' would give a Cool-Fair or Cool-Medium in EDM colours whereas Buff is in the Olive (with a touch of brown (Ivory - pure neutral) and gold (golden) category.
Looking at it on screen - which is different to looking at it in real life - I would guess that BFN is closer to Warm Gold because I see mostly creamy faintly yellow-gold tones and some olive undertones. I'm seeing some pink but that might be the 'lighting bloom' that the camera is picking up.
Are you willing to post a pic of your skin, or even do a skin swatch of how those mixes look against your skin so that we can help more with suggesting adjustments? I'm sorry that I haven't been following the foundation thread so I'm not sure if you've done that already.

Re: SN recipe for EDM foundation match?
I'm not home right now, so I had to search my email for pictures that I've sent or were sent to me and had little or no makeup. I'm not sure if these are any good, but it's the best I could do at the moment. The first is about three years old and I think I must have a bit of undereye concealer on. P: The second is this summer when I had a wee tan, no makeup. (:
Thanks for all your help!
Oh! I think I figured out what I might of done. I know I was sleepy so I think I didn't really add a full scoop. Just then I mixed up a tiny batch and it looked like I had a full scoop until I tapped it out and there was very little in there. I find the ebony looks pretty good by itself, but my only thing is it's a bit pink, maybe?
When I get back I'm going to try and do some face swatches and maybe once and for all I'll know.
I've heard other buff fair neutrals say it has a fair amount of pink. I'm terrible with colors.

Hi devlyn,
I think you will probably settle out at about 1Ebony: 0.5Warm Gold: 12 or more Ivory.

Thank you! That's in the original formula, right? Any recommendations on concealers or glows? I have a sample of sleep in a jar extra light peach and splendid on the way.

You are a great candidate for Date Bait.......Devlyn wrote:Thank you! That's in the original formula, right? Any recommendations on concealers or glows? I have a sample of sleep in a jar extra light peach and splendid on the way.

I placed an order for sample sizes of both to help me decide. Thanks for your helpJenW wrote:eternalblue-
I think the Silk Formula would only be slightly less drying based upon the performance of silk. I honestly have not gotten around to trying the vegan formula myself......for me the Silk Formula is HG, and my skin runs a little dryer in the winter. I guess I am suggesting the Silk Formula unless you have issues with the silk.
