light pink lip that flatters? tough question

Post by zeebs » Sun Nov 15, 2009 11:31 am

Oh-kay. So, I want a light pink lip. I have trouble wearing pinks. I would like to know if there is (or could be) an SN lippie that:

1. is opaque (my lips are pigmented)
2. is light pink (but not frosty)
3. would flatter me (see below for detail)

Colors that I looove and want this color to be similar to in effect:
Rhonda, Mirage, Polished Pink (verrrrry close in color to what I want, but way too sheer), XXX (though it's actually toooo tan) - I want the opacity of XXX, the effect of Mirage and Rhonda, but in a pink similar to Polished Pink.

Basically, I am looking for an innocent, girly look that's not too young. I'm 30ish and also not a girly-girl.

Colors that look close to what I want on the site:
Bloom, Soft, Daydream, Bobbi, Cultured, Carnation

Colors that don't look good on me:
Gold Blush (oddly - I expected it to be awesome), Crimson (sooo icky)

Colors that I think are good on me:
Sultry, Infatuation, Polished Pink, Copper Rose, Rhonda, Mirage

I can wear Birthday Suit, but I've always wondered if Breathless would be better. I haven't tried it.

Kinda like this... nude-looking, but pink. XXX is way too tan to achieve this natural, pretty effect on me, but it's the closest. It's just not pink enough. But I don't want bubble gum pink, either. Polished pink is pretty close but it's way too sheer on me so it looks darker than I want.

I don't have any SN lippies yet. But from your descriptions I wonder what would happen if you put on XXX with Polished Pink on top. *shrug*

That's exactly what I was thinking. Use XXX and then put a soft pink over it.

pout looks good on everybody- kind of adjusts itself to the right shade for you.

For that pale uber-nude pink look, I use divine and sparkle together which is what i'm wearing in my avatar. Since divine is discontinued, mirage is the replacement though for me they're just not quite the same(divine was a hair pinker and more opaque).

XXX will completely wash out your lips for whatever you choose to layer on top of it. You could try it with polished pink over top. Sparkle is white, so sparkle underneath or overtop anything will always lighten it. I like to use it as a base to lighten my own lip color. Have you tried sparkle? If you want that lightened look to pinks, it's really a must.

Cultured is a nice nude pink but you will have to add sparkle to lighten it to the shade you want. Have you tried maiden?

I knew I shouldn't click that link. Now I'm wanting Mulberry Spice.

I use the cherry red stain with bloom over the top, just takes the edge off the pinkiness, would that work?

Mulberry Spice is sadly discontinued. But with the lipstick in your avvie, I tihnk you really want Nectar - if you're looking for a replacement.

lairkeeper-
yes.....Nectar will be close and so will Fig Leaf depending on your natural lip color.....Mulberry Spice was very brown with no reddish at all. Your Raisin gloss in your avatar does look to have some red to it.

Zeebs-
Did you ever have a chance to try Divine Kiss Bliss when we had it? Did it work for you?

Bloom might be too pink (but it is a milky pink) after I looked at the pics you linked. Soft will be too bright. Cultured is a bit pinker than Mirage.....how was that one on? Do you just need a more pigmented version of Mirage, or a pinker version?
