Product Questions

Post by khasart1 » Fri Nov 13, 2009 2:07 pm

I am becoming something of a SN addict. I am going to put an order through this weekend and wanted to know from you experts some information about these colors. Are Chills and Thrills really shimmery? I don't like too much shimmer due to my age. I have hazel eyes and light to medium skin. Would you recommend that duo for my coloring? Are Fig Leaf and Sweet Nothing anything alike? Which of those do you prefer and why?

I appreciate any info you can give me. Thanks! :D

Hmmmmm....need to pull out Thrills and Chills to have a look, but I prefer Fig Leaf over Sweet Nothing. Fig Leaf leans plummer and Sweet Nothing redder...I just tend to like plums.

Hopefully you will get more input....off to check the e/s.....

I really lean towards plum shades also. Any must have plum lippies I should know about?

First, Thrills and Chills. They will probably be too much on the shimmery side. For very similar colors in a finish that you will like, try Sandy and Rizzo.

Plum lippies....Definitely Fig Leaf. I think if you wanted a lipstick, Eternal would be good. Black Dahlia is gorgeous, but it has a shimmer to it. I feel more comfortable with that one on special occasions. You might also like Birthday Suit and Nectar.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm wondering if the E/S formula has changed radically since the beginning. Most all of the E/S's in the past year or so have been too shimmery on me, and the satin finish ones that are supposed to be more flattering are the worst offenders. I can wear Crush and Chills, oddly.

Let me explain: with the old ones, even the metallics, and the morphing colours (including the new morph colours, and the coppers) the shadows are translucent enough so that I get a nice but not overwhelming hit of colour, and a little sparkle when the light hits.

With the newer ones (save the flat-out mattes) they're either way too shimmery, or with the satin-finish ones - those look like I stuck a piece of coloured foil on my eyelid.

I've tried using very fine brushes, but it comes out the same way. Sandy is a nice lid colour for me, but I need to use something less obvious for a highlighter. I can't wear Brown Sugar at all, because it's almost glow-in-the-dark. Ditto Frenchie, Cream, Rizzo, Danny, and most of what's come out recently.

I ordered some of the E/S primer, and I hope that'll make a difference. Also wondering what the shimmer/shine level is on the new mixed metals.

Again, I hope it's just me. I know a lot of folks seem to love the new finishes, but I find them mostly unwearable. It seems downright weird that Fairy Dust is a nice and not outrageous colour on me while colours like Cream and Frenchie look radioactive.

Since I am a newbie I don't know what the e/s were like before. I do agree that some of the ones I have tried are too frosty/shimmery. I really like the mixed metals. That can be sheered out and look day appropriate. Maybe Jen could shed some light on if there was a formula chang?

I have been trying to figure this out. The only thing that is different in some of the new eyeshadows we released last year about tis time is the smaller particle size. Karen found a mica that gives more coverage and kind of a satin finish. All of the ones Rhys mentions not working for her are the satin finish. It is a different formulation on some of the newer products, but nothing was changed on the previous products. We just have several differing textures of eyeshadow. Prior to this year we had a matte, a semi-matte, and a few different levels of shimmery depending on the mica in the color. In the last year we added a satin texture and the sheerer texture like in the Muse clone, the morphing colors from summer, and the Mixed Metals. I wear the satins most of the time and love them, but they just don't work for some.
