Grey is an interesting option, not too bold, but a smokey or shimmery one is perfect to go out... at least I think so, I am more or less new at eyeshadows! I'm considering taking a couple of greys. As one-colour washes (with eye-liner however, yes). Blending dark colours is right now something I'm unable to do!
So, could anyone tell the difference between Platinum and Silver lining? And are they pretty one-colour washes or can't they work this way? (if you think it depends on the colour or fairness of the eyes or skin or whatever, please say what works best).
Is Alloy totally wearable to work, and long-lasting? I have to say I am impressed by the lasting power of, say, Taupetastic, without a base!
Any other beautiful greys you would advise?
Thanks for your help!

Silver Lining is pretty light and mostly just silver with a little pale gray. Too light for a one color wash except on the light and fair.
Platinum adds a little color depth with a grayer base. I could see thins one for smokey, but not Silver Lining. As a one color wash for medium tones.
Alloy is less sparkley, but more of a purplish gray. Definitely good for daytime. Agreat one color wash for me!
It should work as a one color wash for medium and lighter tones....if you are deeper than that it might be iffy.
The gray version of Taupetastic in depth and texture is Slate. It is less of a cool gray in tone and a deeper version of Alloy.

I would also recommend Heather and Wink Wink as neutral-ish one wash grays. I've been wearing both like that with Idolize in crease or liner. Idolize can pass as gray too, and great as one wash. I also recommend Carbon for liner.
