which pink lip gloss??

In what I have seen on blogs, etc. a yellow skintone is tricky with pink blush. If the pink blush is too warm, it shows up peachy, and not how the user expected at all. I know there are warm and yellow toned girls who are looking for a blush that shows up as pink. It is quite possible that there is enough pink in the Tart blushes to compensate for the yellow. I am not saying run out and try the Tart. But if you have tried other avenues and still cannot find one that shows up pink, give one of the Tart blushes a sample. Babydoll is another good one to try.

I have to agree with Jen, even though I'm coming from the very cool side of the fence. Many, many companies put out 'neutral pinks' with a brown base to them (I think I have most of them - I spent forever looking for pink pink, and what seemed to work for everyone else did not work for me - and the undertone was almost invariably brown). Ditto 'neutral reds' - with a brown or copper base. And on me, the brown or copper base overpowers the pink - not so with most girls, but if you're fair or have a strong undertone, you don't want somethng clashing with it - and if your undertone is strongly gold or yellow your skin might well pick up the brown - which may or may not look okay on you, but it's not pink. Fortunately, I haven't seen too many minerals that go orange on anyone, but true pinks are hard to find.

I really love Tart/Tart Light, and Babydoll for pinks. Cheeky isn't as pigmented and more sheer, that works if you're fair, and it's pink - but if you're not very fair, it may not show up on you. I like Tart/Tart Light and Babydoll better - personal preference. Tart really isn''t as scary on as it looks in the jar. Babydoll *might* be better for cooler/neutral skintones. Haven't had a chance to try Petal yet, I think it's a tad on the warmer side, but not overwhelmingly so.

I have medium skin tones with a yellow undertone, and look best in warm medium beige foundations. I usually dislike "pinks" on me as most of them are to cool toned and almost clash with my skin tone. However, I ordered a sample of Tart always figuring that I could find it a home with one of my friends if I didn't like it or it didn't work. Low and behold I works well with my skintones, and is a pink that I will actually wear. Since I start out fairly dark and will only get darker as summer progress, the Tart rather than Tart light works really well. If you have warm skin tones don't be afraid of this one.

Looks like i really have to try tart sometime soon. I've ordered a sample of babydoll but it's not here yet.

Most of the pinks i've tried either make me look clownish or like what JenW mentioned, turned peach. And plum-ish shades don't work for me at all because the brown/yellow in my skin turns it gray-ish leaving me looking like a corpse. maybe i just haven't found the right plum or maybe i just can't wear plum.

As for petal, it definitely looks right for the warmer girls but i thought the swatches look a bit too light and it might not show up on my face but then again, there's always no harm trying (giving myself reason to buy).

Hi, I'm new, hope it's okay to tag on to this thread as I have a pink question

I'm new to sn lippies and really like pout on liljooules, but can't use products with carmine. I'm getting tickled pink from the new formula lippies, as someone said it's similar to pout, but would still like a nice light pink in the lip gloss formula. I'm looking for a pink without peach, not too warm or cool, pretty light in colour, not darkish pink. Looking at Berry Nice, Seedy, Damsel, Ashley, but how do these compare? I think I saw Berry Nice on Jen, it looks beautiful on her, but it's darker on her lips than what I'm looking for, would any of the others be lighter?

I guess the first thing I should ask, is what color do you think your lips naturally are? Mine are a little reddish and dark in comparison to my skintone. All lippies show up a little redder on me than most people. That being said, if you think your lips are closer to brown, I think Damsel is the color you are looking for. There is a little bit of reddish raspberry color in Berry Nice, and a little bit of bluish raspberry color in Seedy. Ashley is also nice but just a little bit warmer in shade than Pout. It is still far from what I would call warm, but I would call it a shade darker than Pout. I hope this has helped a little!

Well my lips are kinda red with slight darkish pink, and dark/pigmented (but no brown) compared to my complexion too. Thank you for the descriptions, they're very helpful. And they all sound so yummy it's hard to decide lol! Could you possibly rate them in terms of lightest to darkest as they appear on your lips?

It sucks that you can't use carmine because Pout is really a pretty colour that's exactly what you want (not warm or cool) but it's ok because SN has so many other pretty colours and i;m sure you'll find more right shades for you. I'm sorry i can't help much as Pout is the only pink shade that I've tried so far. JenW knows the shades inside-out. So, it's wise if you listen to her descriptions. Rhys knows a lot too!! All the best in choosing your perfect pink shade!!

Well part of the reason I am so loving Pout is it looks so beautiful on you, just what I want! But yeah it's ok, with so many shades I'm sure many of the others are very pretty too!

On me they run (lightest to darkest)
Damsel, Berry Nice, Seedy, Ashley

I think this is mostly because the first three were designed as sheer glosses and let a little of your own natural lip color through. Ashley is a little redder in hue than the other three and has a shimmer. It shows up as the darkest because it has more pigment than the other three, and the shimmer obscures your natural color more. Damsel is very similar in hue to Pout, but as I have said it is sheer. (I swatched them both on my arm to see.) I have to thank you for making me look into this. I think I have found a new love in Damsel!
