All my new stuff!

Post by ladycattat » Sat Oct 31, 2009 11:15 pm

As most of you know, I've had a pretty rotten couple of weeks. I decided to cheer myself up with a tiny bit of retail therapy, and Karen's new stuff was calling.

Let's just say I am pretty dang thrilled with all MU purchases.

I got Cider blush sample......love it and will def get a FS. Even though I'm very fair with a slight yellow undertone; it's not too much, even w/o the fiber optic brush. I just looked glowy and healthy.
After checking in see what everybody thought about the new collection, I choose Burnished and Papyrus. I recieved Harvest Moon as my gwp, and Dazzle as my over 30$ gwp.
SO HAPPY am I with my little quartet of e/s. Burnished is awesome...it's been refered to as Idolize's big daddy, and I believe it. It's just the most gorgeous mix of brown, green , gold and black.....but it is NOT too dark or overpowering, it blends out out very subtle, and is beautiful woth Harvest Moon. Harvest Moon is a perfect underbrow highlight for fair gals. It's kinda like Sprite, but a little less glitzy.
I can see myself wearing Papyrus a lot....it's very user friendly in so may ways....as a highlighter or an all over wash. It's a pale golden peach on me.
Dazzle I bought to mix with glosses. I like the copper effects it gives.

I ordered Negligee lipstick and Swank lipgloss. I already wrote a review on Negligee, not quite what I expected, but I really do like it and have used it constantly since got it. I like it best with Swank over it. Swank is hard to describe, but cool and easy to wear. It gives a *warm cool* gleam.

I love Papyrus. It's subtle but very pretty. Negligee is my new fav lip gloss! I wish it was more moisturising....but the color is perfect for me. :)

Glad you're loving it, Laurie. *hugs* The metals palette is quite special. I'm finding Papyrus difficult to wear - it's a dark yellow on me and looks like custard powder, so I need to lighten it with Ivory. Other than that, they're all lovely as wash colours and I'm still loving Burnished as Idolize's Daddy 8-)

I haven't tried the new lippies but I know Kitten has them and is very impressed.

I've been good (budgetary constraints so keeping it to skincare only) and haven't ordered any of the Mixed Metals yet, though they look stunning and I may get some in December.

I'm uber-pale and cool toned, but I have a strong gold undertone, so colours like Honey look great on me. Nekkid, on the other hand, makes me look kind of eye-diseased. Boom is my best go-to base and highlighter.

Where does Papyrus fall on the scale?

Boom kinda changes on me and goes daffodil yellow - Papyrus looks like a matte version of that on me. Buttercup is the same story but a shade or two deeper.

It may be worth a try. Bone is too stark, Boom is just right - Papyrus could work.

papyrus isn't working well for me either. i think it's going to be the first shadow that i'm going to return. it's too dark for a highlighter, too light for a lid color on my skintone, and when it's on i can't see any of the nice shimmer/sheen that i can when i swatch it. maybe i will try burnished instead...

It is so funny how some of the colors work so well for some and not for others. I really love Papyrus....it is making Sandy jealous....... ;)

I really love Papyrus, and reach for it almost daily. I'm light medium skin toned, with strong yellow gold undertones, I usually wear a mix of 1 warm gold to 7-8 med. ivory, except in the summer and then I need buttery gold in the same ratio. On me Papyrus is truly my lids but better. It gives them a finished look and just a bit of shimmer, but blends in with my skin tone so well that you can't tell I'm wearing any shadow. I don't have Boom, so I can't compare the two. I can also wear Honey, but it looks more light gold on me.

Nothing like a wonderful package of MU to cheer you up, is there? (except perhaps a package of scented candles, or chocolate). ;)

I got Harvest Moon too, and love it. Though I've put it into my special drawer, so I don't use it all up at once.

I got a sample of Swank too. Alone, it turns my lips sort of...dead. It is a really sheer grey, glittery, soft, moisturising lip gloss. And even if I cannot sport it alone, it is great to add to colours that alone are all too garish. I have a rather bright red lipstick, that suddenly became wearable when paired with this on top. So, every product has its uses.

Is Papyrus more toffee gold than yellow gold?
