Andrea, can you please describe Burnished for us? Karen calls it a liner, but it it too dark to wear as an e/s? (I cant do the smokey eye thing: I always end up looking like I've been playing with Mama's makeup!
Also does anybody have Papyrus and you describe it!

Burnished is a must own. It's Idolize's Daddy. Wet-lined it looks softly metallic. Yes it can be worn boldly but also it can be worn so softly that it just enhances your eyes rather than screams 'makeup'. It's neither a heavy pigment nor a dense, hard-to-work-with powder so yes, it works easily as an eyeshadow. It first, it vaguely reminded me of EDM's In The Garden for the colour complexity and while it does have some of that hard-to-describe mystique, like Idolize it really must be seen to be understood. It would be a crime to describe the colour as merely a brownish-greyish-metallic liner. It's simply magnificent.

(As is the entire Mixed Metals palette - even the green Patina which I thought it couldn't wear, it's so flattering.)

Not much I can add to the wonderful description before me :) It sort of reminded me of Love: it has that sort of greenish, brownish, idon'tknowhatcolorish aspect that makes it really gorgeous and versatile. The difference is that this is a bit lighter, with a bronzy feel/finish to it. You know me, Laurie, I'm not much of a green/olive wearer, but I really like this one (and Love). And I think it would look gorgeous on you with your other lighter olives, or just lightly in the crease with just say, Boom.

Quick edit: the more I look at it, I see the difference from Love: Love has more of a gold finish, while Burnished is more of an antique bronzish finish.

Laurie:
This is going to sound like a strange way to describe an eyeshadow, but Papyrus is a my lids but better shade. It goldish /peachy/ vanilla mix that is the perfect base shadow for layering, an eye brightner when worn alone with just a darker color as a liner, works as a highlighter and is perfect in the inner corner of the eye to brighten that area up. I have worn it every single day since I got my order, and am liking it better than Bare, Quartzite, Purr , or Vanilla. I hope this helps, color descriptions are not my best attribute.

How would you compare it to Boom? I've been using that as my go-to base for neutral or dramatic, but I'm always looking for options :)

When people say they use an e/s as a base or to layer what do you mean? Im new to eyeshadow, never used it until I started using SN and fell in love with all of the pretty little pots of color! Now I wear it everyday, and am still trying to figure it out! Do you wear a color under other colors to enhance them?? Do you use a primer? I bought SN's primer and like it alot. Is papyrus sparkly? If you have tawny could you compare the two? Thanks!

Oh, when I say I use it as a 'base', I just mean that I use it as a lid color to which I add crease, or liner or both. I use an eye lid primer underneath, and then put on my base color. I guess I should call it my starter or all-over color, but then again, I usually stop at the bottom of the brow bone, so it's not really all over.

I know others use the word 'base' differently, sorry about the confusion! I have seen/heard other ladies layering colors on top each other too, which is particularly cool with the morphing shadows. I hope this helps.

I don't have Papyrus, but it sounds more and more like something I should really grab :)

No you didn't say it wrong, I just didn't understand. It makes total sense now! ;) I want to get papyrus too, I was just wondering if it is so light you can't really see it or if it gives a nice light color. I guess I'll have to get it and see for myself! I like tawny too, and it's hard to tell in the picture if there is a big difference between them.
