Hi everyone!
What kind of kabuki brush does everyone use? I did buy the Super Soft Vegan Synthetic Kabuki Brush and at first the brush was amazingly soft and did a great job but it's only been 3 months and now it's very scratchy and made the sensitive skin around my nose and my eyes tear and bleed. I do not have sensitive skin either but the brush is very hard and rough now. The bottom handle part also fell off and I had to glue it back so that the little hairs weren't exposed at the bottom. Also, the powder keeps sinking into the hairs and not distributing on my skin evenly so I am wasting A LOT of my precious SN mineral powder.

I followed the instructions of cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and not using water or getting water into the ferule but that did not help. I also tried using a bit of the Kiss cleanser to clean it thoroughly and spent a lot of money on special synthetic brush cleanser. No luck!
Is there another kabuki brush that some of you use that you've had luck with? I do love the idea of SN brushes and will probably give it another try but I would still appreciate some feedback. Thanks all!

I don't work here but it sounds like a defective brush. I've had problems with handles coming off before, but the fibres of the synthetic kabuki and flat top brushes are all the same - so - maybe something was wrong with yours?

I have the Super Soft Vegan Synthetic Kabuki Brush by SN and I love it!!! Have been using it for about 6 mths and the bristles are still soft. I agree with Rhys that your brush may be defective since you mentioned that the handle fell off.
Other brands that you can try : Everyday Minerals - their brushes are not as dense as SN but durable and cheaper (but I still prefer SN's kabuki brush). Eco Tools brushes (read lots of positive comments from other forums). HTH.

Sounds like a dud to me...I've had mine for a couple of years, and it's still going strong. Email us through the web site and we'll take care of it for you. You may also want to think about the flat top brush...the bristles are shorter so it "eats" a little less powder.

If you want to try another brand, I recommend the Eco-Tools travel kabuki (they don't make a full-sized non-travel version right now, I think). It's super soft and I've been using mine for a few months now. It's pretty affordable, too.

Does the flat top make a smoother look to your foundation than a round Kabuki? I'm using a round top one now and wondering if I should get the flat top.

I think the flat top SN sells might provide a wee bit heavier coverage than the kabuki, but I wouldn't say smoother. Both brushes are good, but you may find one easier than another to put on your foundation. I think it comes down to personal preference.

Yeah, the Ecotools brushes are nice for a good price. I have one of their brushes.
I just love my powder brushes. I use Sephora's premium goat hair brushes, but they are expensive, substantial investments, $40-50 each. While the powder brush is nice, the bronzing brush is actually the best for mineral foundation IMO. I don't know if they make a kabuki or similar.
I've also had good luck with Prescriptives brushes in general but these are also pricey.
Give Karen's another go before you go out and spend the $$$$.

Yes I've been using the EcoTools kabuki brush temporarily because the SN one was hurting me so I threw it away. It's alright, but it didn't wow me like the SN kabuki did at first before it started falling apart and getting rough.
Karen, I sent an e-mail through the main site like you said. I will look into buying the flat top SN Kabuki as well.
Thank you everyone for your input. <3

Is it dirty? My brush, more so when I’m using wet method or in the winter when I use oil every day on my face, builds up little clumps of makeup. It’s pretty rough after a while but when it’s clean the good synthetics brushes are the softest you can find.
