Blush as eye shadow?

Post by egerandi » Sun Oct 04, 2009 1:27 am

I hope it's safe to do so, but I've been using some of my blushes as eye shadows. It's not like I don't have enough shadows, trust me, I have more than I can remember. I feel like it's Xmas all over again when I find a long-forgotten palette, hehe. Anyways, do you ladies use your blushes as shadows? Which ones and why?

I sometimes do it to have the simplest but cohesive/put-together looking day face (still feeling sort of matching challenged when it comes to blush and eye shadow). I go really light handed on the eyes, otherwise it can be a bit overwhelming and I look like I've been punched or didn't sleep enough.

Today I tried Desert Plum, and oh my! Bare face, DP on cheeks, Bisou on lips, and then I dusted a bit of DP on the lids. Gorgeous, brings out my blue eyes. I'm now looking for Carnal and see what that's like - I'm thinking evening eyes with Boom or Whisper on lid, Carnal in crease and black liner? Hmmm.

I love using bronzer as eye shadow. Karen's fibre optic brush is perfect for a quick sweep of colour.

I wear Satisfied as an eyeshadow alot! I also use Lovelace sometimes to make my eyes look more awake. They look so nice because her blushes are sheer, so it just adds a nice little glow and a wash of color.

I used something really pink one day... like maybe it was Tart Light, if I remember right?... cause I had just that LITTLE BIT LEFT in the jar that I wanted to use up, you know? It wasn't, like, *awesome* but it does make for a good hot pink in a pinch. I will try my plum shades as you suggest! Good idea!

Yep, I do it too.......I try to see mineral products as genuinely multipurpose, rather than what they're specifically labelled for (so blush as e/s, e/s as blush, lippie as cream blush etc).

Things I have liked for purposes other than they're intended so far:

Tiger Lilly e/s as blush (just lovely)
Halo & Siren glows as e/s
Tahiti Sweetie as e/s
Rich blush (now discontinued) as e/s -very similar to Sandstone e/s
Swept Away, Ashley, Capricious, Fig Leaf lippies as cream blush
Nude Beach & Darling lippies as a summery eye gloss
Deep Brunette brow powder as eye liner
Holy Crow - a smidge mixed with e/s to produce a firming, smoothing, cream eye shadow (not tried it with blush but i'm sure it would work).

Slightly different, but if you use any of the SN serum and have some left on your hands, if you wear your hair tied back just smooth your still damp hands over your pony tail or crown, and it works wonders to tame any flyaways.

Haven't tried Carnal as e/s but can see how it would work well - thanks for the suggestion, will give it a try!

Ah, nice! I will try more of my blushes from now on! I tend to wear the cooler one most of the time, and the warmer/peacher ones are just sitting there. Eye shadow they shall become :)

Thanks for the inspiration: I stopped using Sweet Nothing as it was a bit too dark and too mauve on my dark lips, but now I will start using it as cream blush! It's very sheer so it's great for daytime.

Great!! Glad to know you liked the suggestion :)

In summer, I particularly like the more vibrant lippies as cream blushes (Ashley, Capricious - that new coral one looks like it might be a winner too). If you have Swept Away I especially recommend that you give that a try - a bit too pink for my lips but a smidge on the cheeks looks lovely & fresh.

I had Swept Away!!! And it was too pink for my lips... Oh man, I should have tried using it as a cream blush before giving it away. But my friend really looked great in the colour and I have too many blushes already... so oh well, no harm there =)
