Hi packgal....this is how I foil my eyeshadows:
Like Heathcliff mentioned, a good base of some sort is crucial. I also use MAC shadestick and it works perfctly for me. I use the Lemon Chiffon, which is a really pale yellow-gold.
1. *draw* on the shadestick all over eyelid from lashes to brow. Blend with brush so all you see is a slight shimmer.
2. I use Karen's cream eyeliner samples next. Since the color is already on the q-tippy thing I just lightly *draw* it on; just from lashes to just below crease. Blend with brush so its even and smooth.(I use Mahogony for warm colors and Amythest for cools. I might use Envy or Fort Knox or Peacock, also)
3. Then I use whatever highlight color I want to use----usually Cream or Fire.
To foil it I sprinkle just a few grains in the lid of the jar. Then I run my e/s brush under running water to thoroughly wet it. Then I blot it on a towel so it is damp, not dripping, and just mush the brush down into the e/s lid to mix it with the mineral grains in there. The mixture should NOT be runny...for me it works much better as a paste.(make sure to just start with a TINY amount of minerals; you can always add more if needed. Use the brush to apply the thin paste under my eyebows and in the inner corner of my eyes. Blend. (By the time you are done blending it should be dry, so you don't need to worry about keeping your eyes closed.
4. Using the same technique-starting with just a tiny amount, I mix the shade I want to use in the lid. I apply just a bit to the center of my eyelid, just above my lashes, and blend the sides and to the crease. (my eyes are very deepset, so I only do a 2-color eye).
Doing my eye makeup this way I get no *mineral fallout* on my cheeks, and it stays on usually about 8-10 hours, which is more than enough for me.
Oh-I forgot to mention, I always put on my mascara before any other eye makeup, that way if it smears I can use a q-tip to clean it up.

I decided to try out Quiver, and WOW!!! I was worried that it would be a little to sparkly for running to Wal-Mart in my small town, but it wasn't. It is just a really pretty, interesting pink. I even think I could wear it to work (I'm a teacher, so I try and keep my make-up fairly neutral/low-key on weekdays). I'm thrilled that I ordered it, especially since it appears to be gone now (along with Fairy Dust, Jean Queen, etc...)
It was an impulse order for me and I wasn't sure I was going to like it because it looks so PINK in the jar. But it's perfect
