Why do you recommend the Ultra Sheer Zinc? Would that be smoother than the original foundation, or make the colour sheer?

I really like the colour of Nuance, but it seems like it would be much too dark on my fair skin tone. I was wondering if anyone has lightened their blush, with the ivory foundation (all white) perhaps? Or maybe make it sheerer with a translucent powder? What do you suggest I do to take the depth dow...
