I have been looking every where for a good dupe for emote. It will be great if karen could come up with one! Does anyone think terra could be a good contouring shade?

I would probably lean more eu-Taupe-ia. Terra is ever so slightly reddish. I saw your post on the other thread (I will need a bit of time to think your best foundation colors over....tomorrow for sure) and I think Terra would be a dissappointment. I will look over the matte shadows and brow powders by tomorrow for contouring possibilities.

Thank you Jen, You are so nice! I was thinking of getting ebony kit and maybe a sample of buttery or warm gold? My skin looks slightly pinkish on its own without make-up but i think I have some yellow undertones too. But I am quite worried as most asians in this forum use buttery gold as a base so I don't know if i would be getting the correct one. My best foundatio match is a peachy beige colour, yellowish foundation gernerally do not work for me. I have tried edm's cool medium summer, it was really too pink as i needed a little yellow as well and it was at least 2 shades too dark for me. I really looked like i was sunburnt, it might have worked if it was a shade lighter

You would be surprised at how many Asian ladies do *not* fall into the Buttery Gold foundation category. I really think a combo of Warm Gold and Ebony will be best for you. You will probably end up in the 1 scoop color base to 7-10 scoops Ivory. I wish I could narrow it down a little more for you, but without seeing an actual pic of you, it is only a guess. Start with the 7 and add Ivory as you go. (I am posting this on the other thread, too.)
I have not yet had a chance to look at the matte eyeshadows, but I know some gals were experimenting with a darker mix of their foundation for contouring. I can't remember if they reported back or not. I really recommend Light Ash brow powder or possibly eu-Taupe-ia eyeshadow because it is the most neutral taupe shade . Samples of the brow powders can be ordered.

I have to agree with Jen about not all Asians falling into "Buttery Gold" category. I'm Chinese and fair-medium. Climax blush will show up beautifully on me but I need more layers than Satisfied. Forbidden blush needs to be stippled on or else I will look like those
Chinese Operaactors.
I made a batch of 1BG:1E:5HI and yes, the foundation blends so well, its like my own skin tone. HOWEVER, I look sallow and dull. Which is what I had to start with anyway. And in photographs, I come out looking yellowish and not at all "alive".
Once I'm done with this batch, I will go back to using a mix of Warm Gold and Ebony, but have to get the amount of Heavy Ivory correct. I could be wrong, but maybe the point of using foundation is to make our skin tone/shade look better, but still natural?
If you're still not sure, it doesn't hurt to get sample sizes. I got all the foundation samples and I've been letting my friends try them out. One guy is really Buttery Gold with a hint of ebony. But my other girlfriends are more Warm Gold + Ebony.

Thank you for the suggestion, jen, I already placed my orders for ebony kit and I am so excited waiting for them to arrive..Hopefully it'll be a match. None of the mineral make-up foundations i tried were a good match. Hopefully silk naturals will be different. About the contour shade, I finally caved in and bought emote from ebay. The price was exorbitant, I sure hope it's as good as the reviews.

I'm pretty new to the contouring, but I've been experimenting with Beach Bunny. I honestly don't know what it supposed to look like, but it doesn't look bad at all

Just for reference,
Memoirs of a Shopping Addict has comparison swatches of MAC Blush in Emote, Ben Nye Powder Rouge in "Contour No. 1," and MAC Eyeshadow in Wedge.
