Do the foundations work well on brown skin?

I'd like to try one of the foundations but i wonder if it will match well with my skin tone, which is somewhere around the likes of Kerry Washington or Nicole Beharie.
Does anyone have a suggestion for which sample should i try out?

We do have a Deep Ebony shade that is worth a try. It will be in the 1:1 or 1:2 ratio of color to white base. It is the darkest shade we currently have. I am going to be honest that it might be a long shot. In googling those actresses, they are right at the edge of how dark our line goes. I wish I could be more help.
