Black but not black?

Post by zeebs » Tue Oct 14, 2008 5:57 pm

Hi y'all,

I want to purchase a black shadow that I can use to darken other colors for crease/corner contouring. BUT I am uber-pale and therefore have to be very careful with colors like black. Is there anything that isn't quite black but is exactly monochromatic, a true grey, that could accomplish this?

I was thinking about Wild Woman cause it doesn't look as black as Raven but I am really scared. Bewitched and Sapphire are really hard for me to use because they are super-dark on me. Soooo... ideas?

Thanks-

Wild Woman is pretty sparkley and I am not sure it will blend like you want very easily. It does make a great dramatic liner and shadow, but I think it will be too dark. It is almost as black as the BE Rocker dupes.

My first reaction choice for you is Slate. It is kind of a semi-shimmer and a slightly warm toned gray. It will blend with other colors very well. A cooler version would be Storm Cloud. Raven used sparingly would work very well, too.

Okay. Are Storm Cloud and Slate darker or as dark as: Sapphire, Bewitched, Mousse? Those are other colors that I have. I am looking for something not as dark as Sapphire but maybe as dark as Mousse.

Storm Cloud and Slate are more in line with Mousse. To go better with Mousse and the other colors I know you love, I still say Slate. Storm Cloud reads like the silver gray on my laptop with maybe a little blue. Slate reads neutral/warm. Wild Woman is as dark as Sapphire and Bewitched.
