AHA question

So I have been using BHA for a bit now and I do like it but I just ran out... I still had a bottle of AHA and put it on earlier this week and it was ok... then last night I decided that I would do it again... and it really turned one of my cheeks red and under my nose as well as stingy just a bit... I had just washed my face both times so I don't think that I had anything on my face... was wondering if I should try it again or if this might be an allergic reaction? Anyways was wondering if anyone else had this issue? Thanks so much!

I get a mild stinging if I have not used it for a while, but not usually the redness. I wonder if a more dilute application would help. If you want to keep trying, try it on a damp face. Do you do any kind of manual exfoliation? (Like a scrub?)

If you get bumps or anything other than redness it's an allergy, but most likely you're overusing it. Just give your skin a little bit of time to rebound, and you should be ok.

Thanks for the quick replies Karen and Jen... I don't use manual exfoliation on my face... I was trying this instead of that.. Should I just use it maybe once a week to start out with and gradually work up from there?
