I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe and happy Christmas. Thank you to everyone for making this forum a great place to come and hang out. I know I'm supposed to be taking a day off, but I can't help but popping in here to spend a little bit of the holiday with my "other" family.

We're going to my brothers for Christmas, and it's going to be so much fun to hang out with my niece and nephew.

Back before curbside recycling, people out in the country would dispose of their wrapping paper in the burning barrel. My Father used to take all of the spent wrapping paper out to the burning barrel right after we finished unwrapping our presents, and generally he burned at least one or 2 presents every year. Being a police officer, he usually got a box or two of ammo every year...you can see where this is going. Yes, the bullets ended up in the barrel. Ping, ping, ping- we had some Christmas fireworks that year! I named Caliber eye shadow in honor of that odd little memory.

What's your favorite Christmas memory??

Merry Christmas Karen and the rest of my SN friends. I loved the Christmas fireworks story.

When I was little we used to spend Christmas Eve at my Grandparents. My Grandfather was a doctor and the Mennonite nurse's would carol at the shut-ins and the physcians houses on Christmas eve. They would always be at my grandparents house last, and my grandmother would have them in for coffee, hot chocolate, and christmas goodies. One year it was particularly cold and my grandfather started a fire in the fireplace, just before everybody arrived. When they came in for the usual goodies, one of them noticed that I was just sobbing, and asked me why I was crying, in between sobs, I managed to get out that I was crying because Santa Claus couldn't come down the chimmney now, as he would get burned. Somehow, someone in this group managed to convince my granddad not to put anymore wood on the fire, so that it would burn out, and Santa could come.

Merry Christmas. I can't really think of a good story at the moment. I did enjoy reading both of yours.
