Sensitivity to Silk

Good morning Ladies! I'm loving the coverage of the Medium and Heavy Coverage Base but unfortunately it seems I have a sensitivity to Silk and did have a minor breakout of cystic acne. I did try my best to rule out the Foundation (I went over every product I was using (new and old) and systematically eliminated them until I got to the base, and as soon as I eliminated it from my routine the acne cleared up). I was really bummed over this, but once I figured out it was the Silk, and someone was kind enough to point out the Vegan formula has no Silk I was right on board to try! For anyone who's suffered from the same sensitivity, did Vegan work for you? How does the coverage compare? What's the finish like? Also, was anyone able to switch back to Medium/Heavy coverage by maybe using a primer underneath???? I've temporarily switched back to EDM until I get Vegan in the mail but EDM does not last on me so I'm anxious to get my new sample kit from SN!!! Any suggestions are welcome!!!! Thanks!

I had the same problem---loved the formula, but the silk causes breakouts. Yes, the vegan formula works for me. I haven't used the medium or heavy coverage formulas, so I can't offer help with comparisons. You may also want to consider the "All Purpose" formula. It is also silk-free, plus it does not have silica, which is a plus in the winter weather. It has wonderful coverage, too!

Oh I didn't realize the All purpose formula was silk free too! That was the one that was a gumball right??? I just love SN products and really want to switch over to it for everything, so I'm anxiously awaiting Vegan and will probably put All Purpose in my cart for next time!!!

Yes--the All Purpose was originally a gumball, and we begged Karen to release it. :D I use it with the vegan base colors. I also cannot wear most of the blushes, so I stick with the vegan ones.

I really love the green tea & aloe serum. It has helped so much, and it doesn't irritate my skin. If you haven't tried it yet, you may want to give a sample a try!

I have not tried the Green Tea and Aloe Serum. I'll probably be adding it to my cart ;) I've been using the Vitamin C Peptide Serum (just samples so far but am really liking it! It seems to calm down my skin). I only got the acne on my cheeks, so maybe the base and the blush was a double wammy for me??? I did add a blush to my order yesterday and made sure I clicked on the Vegan options. Cystic Acne is HORRIBLE and getting it to heal is a minor nightmare! I'm definitely going to be careful about the Silk on my future orders. Isn't it funny how we can react to things that seem so harmless! I'm just grateful that I did figure it out so I can at least avoid it.

I also used EDM--once upon a time. I did notice some breakouts when I stopped using it, but they healed fairly quickly. I think some other ladies here also noticed the same thing. Just a warning! ;)

I tried using the regular blush again after I switched over to the vegan foundation, but I still broke out. :( I sitck to the vegan options now, and hope for more! I loved Stardust blush and have discovered that mixing equal parts Stellar and Flair create a nice dupe, at least for me. Some of the gwp eyeshadows also make nice blushes and highlighters (LOL, Faith, Mojave--now permanent, Aware, Fuzzy) and they are all vegan as well, I believe.

I never really reacted to EDM (thank goodness!) but I hated when they changed the formula then suddenly it was sliding off my face midday (ugh!). I wasn't saving any money when I had to reapply it two or three times a day! My SN order should be shipping out tomorrow so I'm anxiously waiting to see how the Vegan formula works. I also hope I can get a good match with it. I'm terrible trying to figure out my skin color. I think next time I mix I'm going to be extra special careful mixing it up in a controlled environment with good lighting and really taking my time to swatch test it on my skin. Can't wait to see how it works!
