Hi, Mavens,

I've been having so much fun reading all your posts - thought I'd join in. Thanks to Karen and you ladies, I'm becoming a makeup junkie - finally I can actually wear makeup without looking like Elvira (or worse!) I love the new medium coverage foundation - speeds things up in the morning and goes on more consistently than layering. Also having great fun with all the eyeshadows that "mature women shouldn't wear." The only down side to this great stuff is that Karen keeps pumping out the great new products, which, of course, MUST be tried.

I ordered two of the new dispenser brushes, 1/2 filled one with Date Bait, pumped the button (and pumped and pumped...) - no Date Bait. Is there a "secret handshake", am I just being impatient, or could it be defective? Hope it's just me - I bought one for my prospective daughter in law, too. Please give me your thoughts....

It happened to me the first time I used mine too...what happens is that little tube sprays air into the cylinder, and kind of puffs out the powder. The first time I used it, I pumped and pumped, and it kind of jammed powder down into the bottom. So, take the lid off (over a piece of paper), and up in the brush part, just shake it out, then put it back together and it should work. Shaking, cajoling, and not puffing it too much are all recommended.

I'll do a post about it- but I don't think you got a dud...it just takes a little bit to get "warmed up" then it's fantastic.

Thanks for the quick response, Karen. I'll follow your directions and try it again. I've tried other refillables with mixed results - one exploded (in my computer bag, of course), one never let powder anywear near the brush hairs, and the third "sort-of" worked, but felt like a paint scraper. They're all resting comfortably in my "makeup mistakes mausoleum." Lauren

There's a black sponge near the brush part where it dispenses the powder. Do i remove that or leave it in?

The sponge stays in. It may take several pumps to get the powder primed into the sponge.

I haven't bought one of these yet..........but I was wondering how easy they are to wash? Thanks for any info!

Since it is a synthetic brush, I plan to just swipe on a cloth with a little 90% alcohol, and to let it dry. I am not sure I want to empty it every few weeks for washing. I will let you know how it goes, and I may ammend my method accordingly!

Wow.. did I ever have a hard time with this. Leave it to DH to figure it out. My foundation just kept clumping into a ball and jamming it up so the air couldn't blow the powder into the sponge. When I unclogged it the last time, dh took it from me, held it on it's side (about the 2 o'clock position) pumped it a few times, and then turned it a bit and pumped it again. That finally got things going !! The air puff was able to blow some powder into the sponge. I hope this helps someone. It did a good enough job applying foundation so it will work just GREAT for touch-ups

I went into my purse for an ink pen and pulled one up covered in foundation....yep my brush leaked all into the bottom of my bag. Ive only had it for a week and now my purse and its contents are dusted with SN foundation. What did I do wrong????
