Transparent caps for kisser slicker/lippie tubes

I'm not sure whether this is a possibility (and maybe it's been suggesed before) but it would be great if we could buy transparent replacement lids/caps for the kisser slicker & lippie tubes.
To save space (because I've got so many SN glosses

) I store them in an old cotton bud (q tip) container on their ends - it would make it much easier to pull out the right one in a hurry if you could see the colour of the product inside through the lid.
I'm not suggesting that every lippie should be packaged with a transparent lid, but maybe they could be available say, as a 5 or 10 pack to buy separately, so that gals who want to can swap them over.

I had this issue with mascaras & lippies too.
I solved it by buying a SUPER fine point sharpie paint pen in silver & writing an abbreviation that made sense to me on the lid.

I'd love clear caps too! Great idea! I was hoping the lippies would start coming in the clear tubes, like Truly did, but clear caps would be really great for the tons of lippies I already have. Right now they take up a ton of room as I store them on their side so I can see the name.
I don't think I would have enough room to write an abbreviation on the cap like you do Hoyden, at least not one that I would be able to remember what it stands for

But that is a good idea.

Oh that's a great idea! I keep mine in a square container (kind of like pens), and have to pull them out and check the labels repeatedly before I find the one I'm looking for... Even with a clear lid I'd be hunting, since often to me the color in the tube doesn't match how it appears on my lips. Gotta practice tiny writing now!

i store mine alphabetically and by type (kisser slickers together, liquid together, vegan together, etc.). When I was hard on space, i bought a bulk pack of marker clips (basically what comes with a dry erase board, but by itself- i bought a pack of either 100 or 200 i think but you don't have to buy that many) and stuck my lippies to the wall (mine was inside a closet, but you could do it on a door like the back of a medicine cabinet door).
Some people put dots of nailpolish on the cap, but i just don't have that much nailpolish. If you do, you could try it. At the very least you could probably mark red, purple, pink, light pink.
The only other simple fix i can think of is to print out a color scale:
http://www.creativeuplink.com/htmlbgcolors.png (like the listed cheat sheet for html color codes), cut out the little squares and glue them to the appropriate cap.
i did like the clear tube truly came in...
i could be wrong but i imagine most lip tube packaging is sold as a two-piece set (tube and cap). It might be hard to buy JUST the caps...

Thanks for the cool ideas
I like the idea of using a fine tipped pen but trust me, I am too clumsy (and couldn't write small enough) to pull it off to differentiate every shade but it would be worth doing with my absolute favourites to mark them out from the rest; as I only own a couple of nail polishes that won't get me far but it's a great solution for someone who has a few.
I'll look out for the dry marker holders - my make up stash is in a tool box with a dual fold out lid so there's a ton of space which I can't use at the mo, so I could stick them on there
I'm sure clear caps would be difficult to source individually now I come to think about it.................ooooooh did Truly come in a clear tube at somestage?????? The one I bough with my last order was in regular packaging.

It did, I removed the label and it looks like this:
Not as stylish as black tubes, but I love it.

I love it too. Another benefit to using the clear packaging would be the fact that it would be easy to see if there is anything wrong with the lippies, like air bubbles and such. Several of mine ended up having air bubbles, so chunks were missing once you got to the bottom of the tube, and with the clear packaging they would be able to catch it.

ooooh how lovely!!!!! Thanks for the pic Marion. Now THAT's a far better solution than having just a clear lid.
I would much prefer lippies packaged in this way - you can see the colour & how much you've got left so you don't run out all of a sudden (particularly handy for us non-USA based gals where delivery can take a few days.......not good in case of a makeup emergency

)
