Small lumps on face from SN skincare.

Hi all,

I've been switching everything over to SN skincare over the past few months, but over the past week or so, have noticed a dramatic change. I started out using the apricot cleansing oil, then the pore refining toner (off and on with another company's BHA/AHA toner that I'm trying to use up), then the raspberry moisturizer. That was going mostly fine (though the skin on my nose kept peeling) until I (rather stupidly) added both the super serum and microdermabrasion cream last week. Now my face is covered with small lumps, and I'm not sure what caused it. I've discontinued both, of course, but the lumps are still there, and for someone who has mostly perfect skin, I'm a little bit concerned! Any ideas as to what might have caused it & what I can do to soothe my skin?

Thanks!

I have yet to try SN skincare, waiting for my order, but I'd guess it's a bit to much peeling combined with new products that made your skin sensitive. I have found my skin pretty sensitive to peeling I did a little peeling only with a towel two days ago and I think it may have been a bit to much because yesterday my nose and the area above my lip got a bit bumpy after cleasing and today its red to. Most likely due to the peeling since I haven't done anything else diffrent, so I'll be really careful with peeling in the future.

i've caused small breakouts in my skin (lots of reddish lumps under the skin all over my face) from super serum before. Super serum is one of those products that does some really cool and amazing things, but people with sensitive skin need to be careful with it. Some people can do anything with it- exfoliate, combine it with acids, whatever they want with no negative reactions.

My skin is sensitive enough that it can cause a breakout (or possibly just reveal, since i breakout when i'm hormonal and that's the few times i've had a lumpy reaction- it's possible the acne was already under the skin and just triggered by the serum) or several times a red rash, the worst of which turned my entire face tomato red and faded to the color of mild sunburn for a day or two.

If you have sensitive skin but like positives of super serum, i recommend a cautious approach to it. Make sure your face is wet (say fresh out of the shower), use a very small amount of serum and mix it with water in your hands (just run one hand under the faucet with super serum on the other hand and then rub them together). Sometimes I follow up with a second serum like the rose or aloe ones. Always follow up with a moisturizer. If at any time your skin feels "tight" or "itchy" add water or moisturizer to your skin. As a general rule, don't use the serum at the same application as an an acid (like bha). Some people can and do, but if you're sensitive, it's just better not to. Try it at night the first few times til you get the hang of it, because most reactions to it will fade during 24-48 hours (including the lumps, provided you don't poke at them/scratch them)

Like I said, it does some really cool things like evening out your skintone and keeping acne at bay, you just have to figure out how it works for you.

Hi,

Thanks for the information/suggestions! My skin isn't usually too sensitive, but it gets sensitive to random and WEIRD things, so it may be the super serum. I haven't used it with the BHA/AHA toner I have, just with the pore refining toner, but I'll try mixing it with water or maybe switch to another serum entirely... any suggestions as to which? I'm young & my skin is mostly okay, so I'm mostly doing preventative stuff right now. Still, good to get into good habits early, right? :)

Just to clarify, the little lumps I'm getting don't look at all like acne... just tiny little lumps and bumps on my skin. It's bizarre, I don't think I've ever had anything like it before. I wonder if it's an allergic reaction. :/

It could be contact dermatitis or an allergic reaction. I would say definitely don't use it again any time soon, and give your skin a chance to relax/heal. It does sound like you have a sensitivity to the Super Serum. The microdermabrasion cream is pretty simple, but maybe it made your skin more sensitive as exfoliation can to do that to some degree.
