I need help narrowing down lipstick colors. I have Raisin and Sultry and LOVE them. On my pigmented lips they work much better than the glosses and stay true to color (pink always comes through from my natural lip color).
I was looking at Eternal (reviewer said this is like figleaf...anyone else find this to be true? the swatch looks nothing like it), Fashionista, Rapturous and Negligee (keep thinking this will look like XXX..heinous on me, or I will look like an Angelina wannabe and an ugly one at that). I went on Makeup Alley and read the Mac clone reviews and that just made me more confused...LOL!!!

I am placing an order for Vintage so I figured I will add another lip color...or two or three to the order.

I am neutral - warm (yellowish, golden olive light-medium) w/ brown hair and eyes.

On me, Eternal was more brownish than Fig Leaf, and a bit shinier too, so I can't wear it. I don't own Negligee, but what I've been hearing on the forum is that it is a nice neutral with enough color, not like XXX. Some can wear it as brown nude, some as pink nude. You could wear XXX as base layer if it doesn't work otherwise, even with Modern Poet or Ice Princess on top of it, if you want something that's still nude.

I highly recommend Fashionista and Rapturous, I love them both.

Are you looking for a light or dark color? I never thought I had pigmented lips until I saw how some of the colors look really light on other women and dark pink on me. I love Mirage, it's a light neutral color that looks nice on my lips. It also feels awesome. Also I really like Sweet Nothing, its a darker but not too dark gloss on me that looks actually pretty natural on my lips even though my skin is very light. I also love gold blush and sparkle which I just got and is a fun sparkly whitish color that looks almost light purple on my lips.

I have a sample of eternal, but haven't actually managed to try it (I think I got around 10 lipstick samples in a couple of days, so it is taking me a while to play with them all) but it looks like a browner mlbb colour, wearable for me. I can't wear fashionista, it looks really pink on me, so if that is a problem for you too then you might want to sample/give it a miss.

Thanks for you help. I've narrowed my choices down to Fashionista (fear too pinkish purple), Rapturous (fear not enough brown...LOL!!!), and Eternal (fear too much BROWN...LOL!!!).

I love the look of Embrace Blush on my lips and from the description it is closet to Eternal, so I am leaning that way. Negligee is so out of my comfort range (plus, I have nothing like it), I really should go w/ that, but I know I won't.

I was afraid my lip color would come through too much w/ Mirage. Glad to hear it works for you. I've had Sweet Nothing on my list forever and keep passing it up. You know it will be my HG when I do order it.

Have you tried Nectar with Embrace? That and Sultry and probably my favourite lippies to go with it.

Yeah, I don't think Rapturous has any browns, really. That's why I can wear it beautifully Fashionista is not pinkish at all on me, just dark and somewhat plummy. I should know better, for all I know a color that looks good on someone's lips, may just look blue on mine

Jen Fashionista is somewhat pink on me,but I like it and Eternal is pink/tan nude on me. Lurve it!

Great idea. I love Nectar, but for some strange reason it won't stay on my lips. It seems to form clumps...LOL!! Maybe Embrace will help keep it in place. The only other color I have this problem w/ is Soft...Maybe b/c they are sheer?

I think I am going to go w/ Eternal, I can always jazz it up if needed. Here I am acting like I MUST get one or else my world will end!! Once I start looking I start thinking..."MUST HAVE!!!" Now that I am set for skincare and foundation (just use perfecting powder) I seem to be fixating on lip color. I even find myself trying to figure out what the newscasters have on!!
