T.G.I. FOTD's

Post by karen » Thu Jun 26, 2008 12:41 am

Last week you may recall that I dared Jen to wear Poly as a fun Friday look- and I wore the SWN pallette to break out of my sparkle rut. I think we all had some pretty good fun, and used colors that we don't wear all that often (for no good reason). So...for the next few Friday's we're doing TGIF- FOTD's. And to make it more fun I really want to encourage a lot of you to participate. It's easy to get into a rut of wearing the same colors day in and day out- but on a Friday, in the summer- why not mix it up and do something a little bit different?

So there aren't really any rules- just wear something different than what you normally wear, and post your pic. Posting pictures is very simple- at the bottom of the posting box there is a tab that says "upload attachment" and you can add pics to your posts. Anyone who posts a pic gets a free eye shadow added to their next order- just be sure to PM me so I can send you a coupon code.

I guess I will get things started. I went with quite a bit more blue than I have worn in years. I was headed out to the Zoo with my DS, so I tried to keep it 'everydayish' even though it is out of the norm for me. I could not get a good closeup of the eye, and still can't really get a pic that captures the vibrancy of the colors. I will keep at it, though!

You look good, Jen.

One of these years I'll get a real camera. I tried to do something with the webcam today, but all it could be used for is blackmail, I fear. And it's way dark.

Today is the first day I've put on mmu since getting out of the hospital after my hystectomy last week. I attempted to go to my oldest DS baseball game and was wearing a blue/olivey pair of shorts and blue tee. Normally I would just wear a neutral eye but decided to take the challenge of an out of the norm look even though there wouldn't be a picture. It didn't turn out too bad considering I'm waaay not back to normal yet!

Bare lash to brow
Gator Gold in crease and vee
Charmed on lid
Sapphire as liner
Sprite in inner corner of eye and lightly under brow
Foxxy blush
Darling lippie

I did wear colors that were different for me...*&* took a pic..a SCARY one, lol. I have been *very* sick since Tuesday afternoon & the pic would've needed to be labelled "FEVER UNLEASHED" . 102 fever when an ol' lady is *bad news*,LOL. Brave soul that I am, I tried to upload it anyway...file too large, hehe. See, even the *site* knew I was a *sight*, ROFL, but the MAKEUP looked good.

Here's what I wore, though:
Cashmere as light wash lash to brow
Bare in inner half of lid
SeaGrass outer half & drylined above & outer 3rd of bottom
Wet-smooshed some color into my lashes, non-SN
Blush was Pretty Plum topped w/Carnal
Infatuation lippie

You all look fabulous as usual! It sounds like we're all glad this week is over...I threw my back out about 2 weeks ago, and finally went to the doc who said I have a herniated disk. It's getting better, but the last 2 weeks were not as much fun as normal. I'm on the mend though! I hope all of you get better faster than I have- being sick is just no fun.

I have a lot of ruts that I tend to get into- I'm very loyal to certain blush colors, and tend to wear just 2 or 3 eye shadows- so yesterday I wore:
Teenie Bikini as the lid color
Vanilla highlight
Naughty as crease color
Mink for liner on the top
and because I was playing with it a little bit of Gasp as a bottom liner (another thing I don't normally do)

For blush I wore Maybe Baby- and loved it. Normally I wear Babydoll, Flirt or Climax- but with the nude look I was going for Maybe Baby just added the right amount of color.

Lippie was Divine layered with a little bit of Gold Blush.

We had a power outage, and I couldn't get a pic to save my life yesterday- but I had fun playing with the colors! I had fun playing with lots of things this week...evil grin. We're going to Target so I can get more bins for the infamous Wall Of Minerals.

yesterday I wore my favorites since I had to do on-boarding at the casino (paperwork, fingerprints, IDs, etc). Btw the new way they take fingerprints is really cool- they use water!

Blush/Bronzer combo: Sassy and beach bunny to contour
eyes: Vanilla lash to brow, quarzite over the lid, sunlit bark on the outer corners, and bittersweet to line. You know i love my neutrals! lol. Though i did substitute sunlit bark for my usual luxe in the crease.
Lips: Berry crush- I love berry crush!I think I need another tube. lol.

Berry Crush is definitely up there on the Ultimate Lippie List. I'm surprised that Rare Berry has worked so well for me - that one is gorgeous, too, so sorry it's ended up limited-edition-by-recipe-loss.

Wasn't really keen on yesterday's experiement - I did Tweed and Cabana for eyeshadows, black eyeliner (big mistake) and mixed my Lovelace sample with some Tart Light, topped it off with some Rare Berry. Loved the lips, the rest - well, there's a reason I don't wear Lovelace, or flat browns on my eyes.

Today I didn't do any eye make up (feeling a bit blah and just had to go to the corner shop), so it was foundation, Date Bait, Babydoll with a little Beach Bunny, and Infatuation for a lippie. Yes - Rhys without eye shadow - or liner - or mascara - it does happen :)

But I look WAY better today. My evil webcam won't show you though - even with all the lights on and the curtains open (I have huge windows), I have to lighten the exposure in a graphics proggie by 200% to get even a blob of a face. Grrr!

Close up. My camera never seems to do the colors justice on the closed-eye pictures. On the right, I outlined roughly where i used the highbeam, breathe, and teal appeal
EOTD:
Cream Concealer Sample as Primer
High Beam lash to Brow and a little on the lower lashline
Breathe on the outer 2/3
Teal appeal crease and outer corners and a little on the lower lashline
Bewitched to line- dry lined inside the lashes
Mascara- two brown mascaras from another brand
