I finally cut my hair. I wasn't brave enough to donate it (10 inches), but I did cut off about half (8 inches) of my waist length hair.

So on Sunday I wore my hair in braided pigtails-like i do almost every sunday and have done almost every sunday for the past year and a half (i work at a sportsbar, sunday is all about football jerseys and hot wings and it just goes with the whole wearing a jersey and keeping my hair out of the food thing)... No less than 5 people asked me how old I was and was I old enough to be working in a bar/casino. One man who was clearly a bouncer told me he didn't care how many IDs I had, he'd never let me in the door at any club he was working. Apparently cutting your hair makes you look younger even when you're only 23. One told me I couldn't possibly be more than 17 and another guessed 11... So I guess the average was 8 inches and 8 years off my age. Wonder if i can keep it up as i get older? lol

come to think of it, my tips were really good too...maybe i'll wear pigtails again tomorrow...

I agree, shorter hair usu. makes people look younger. You do look lovely in your pic.

I actually look older when I cut my hair, but that is prob. b.c. I am short, and I usu get a bob and then straighten it.

Another thing that tends to make people look younger is using a lighter hair color. I just lightened mine, and now look much younger. And that goes the other way too. If people are always thinking you are younger than you are and you want to change that, a darker color helps.

I DID wear pigtails again today and I DID get asked how old I was again and if I was old enough to be working there. I also made very good tips again too. lol. Out of 3 days, my sales were pretty consistent, but I'd say my tips were about 5% higher on the days I wore pigtails. Must continue to test this theory...lol

Apparently I look younger with longer hair, but I think that is because I have long straight blonde hair. I am happy that I seem to have got past the age when I used to get asked how old I was allllll the time (when I had my first daughter I was 22, and was always getting asked if I was the nanny/older sister, or how old I was, which got old really quickly, also people kept giving me strange looks when I was pregnant because I looked about 17 at the time, lol). I still get ID'd most of the time when I try to buy alcohol though (I'm about to turn 29).
It is kind of funny that you get more tips with pigtails, lol, shows what men like!

Lol. I think it is because shorter hair generally makes the face look rounder and fuller, like on a younger girl while longer hair elongates the face.
