So...one of our suppliers just put GLOW IN THE DARK pigment on their site, and I ordered 8 ounces of it. I *really* needed it in August, because now I feel like there isn't a ton of time to really play with it, and do some really nifty, creative things with it in time for Halloween. I haven't touched it- so I'm not sure about how it plays with the other ingredients. I'm fairly certain it's compatible with oils, or that I could possibly, maybe add it to something liquid- that's a big maybe. I know it works in melt & pour soap (which I'm not making).

It is safe for cosmetics, but not for the eye area. The other FDA regulation with it is that it can't be incorporated into a product that's marketed for daily use- it can only be a "special occasion" type thing- like Halloween. I was thinking lippie- most likely a clear-ish, and maybe a red or another Halloween color if it works out (from playing with glow stuff as a kid it was kind of white), or make some sort of powder with it. But I thought I'd see if you had any ideas.

So submit your ideas...if we use it, we'll give you that product for free!

What about applying it like a cream liner? That would have so many applications, freehand some cool designs on the face, arms, hands, something fun and it would be easy to apply it that way, perhaps

Or maybe in a powder form, with some sparkle... it could be dusted over hair, or on the temples for a cool effect in black light, and ethereal in regular light.

i know we've already been requesting several types of black lippies, but it would be really cool to add this to a black lippie...that way, in the light, it would be blackish, but in the dark, it would glow...

for all over application (like on face, chest, arms) i wonder if you could add it to a base that would be like the gelled oil moisturizers? that would be a nice application vehicle, methinks.

It seems that the cream liner wouldn't work because it isn't approved for the eye area...

But I like the idea of a glow-in-the-dark lipgloss!

Or have it in powder form (with another mineral pigment) to mix into nail polish -- I do that with some of my mineral pigments to customize nail color.

I don't know if this is the standard green-ish glow in the dark color or how strong the effect is, but it might be fun to have it diluted in an all over powder to dust onto faces and cheekbones for spooky luminescence at twilight.

You know those face paints the wee kids use? They'll come back from a fete or fair and have a tiger painted on their face?

Well, could the glow powder be an adult version? I'm thinking either colourless or in a basic set of rainbow colours so that they could be painted on for artwork, temporary fake-tattoo style art or little stripes or hearts and shapes on the face etc for Hallowe'en. Then the surprise is that when the adult goes outside into the dark of night, or into UV-light in a club, their pretty art suddenly glows in the dark! That could be really cool. The artistic folks could use it for things like the henna hand-art but whatever they want to draw, but with a very cool Hallowe'en twist in glowing! You get little stick on glittery dots for around the eyebrows, little hearts etc for one-wear decoration to a disco (I am old lol) or clubbing (so I hear!) so this could replace that. I'd imagine that it'd be sold either in a powder with mixing instructions or in a not-too-easy to wash off base like face / body paint, and sold in little jars about the size of the eyeshadows (for the coloured options).

I'm thinking glowing green + shine = weird shiny alien thing, so what about mixing it into a mattifying finishing powder? I agree with heathcliff that a glow-in-the-dark highlighter would be spooky too

How about making a hair gel with it? Maybe even using it on eyebrows? Or maybe making a contour cream with it? Too bad it isn't eye safe b/c glow in the dark mascara would be pretty cool, though it might make vision problems from the glow..

So I got it today...and it's really really heavy, and slightly gritty. I don't think it's going to mix well into many things at all. I'm thinking I'm going to mix it with some avocado butter, and do a gift with purchase. It would be pretty multi-purpose in that base you could put anywhere.

Glow in the dark mascara is a cool idea though!

I wanna see two things:
translucent body powder (could be a scented body powder?)
liquid pigment for painting temporary tattoos.

do you think you'd have any luck with those?
