Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Thanks a bunch! From the swatches I did, it looks like 1.5 scoop Olive to 10 white is just about right-on - I tried 1:10 first, but it was too light. Maybe it's because I'm using the All-Purpose formula instead of the Perfect Harmony. However, I feel like it's maybe missing a little warmth...perhaps a smidge of Warm Gold? It's difficult because my neck and my chest are a little different in color (my chest/arms being darker and more gold/tan from sun exposure). I'll try my mixture as-is on my whole face first and see how it looks.JenW wrote: Your pics are great help! I would start with Olive at a 1 scoop color to about 10 white ratio.
Also, are there any perfecting glows/powders you'd recommend for me? And blushes that aren't overly sparkly? Sorry for all the questions! I appreciate your wise counsel!

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
I need a lil help with color here. I got really close with about 1:8 Warm Gold and medium coverage Ivory but something just seems off.
I tried taking a picture with it on but even I couldn't tell that there was anything wrong in the picture. I can only see it in the mirror. I think the problem is that it just looks kinda dull or something. I'm including photos (I hope) but I never take any without makeup so I hope you can get a good idea from these. I only wear mineral makeup and my face is naturally a bit darker than my neck.
Oh and the All Purpose Ivory wasn't available when I started with Silk Naturals so I want to give it a try this time since I have the dreaded "dry and mature"
skin now. I'll be making a new order (again
) very soon.
TIA
Kelly

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
kellyboo,
You are right that the color issue does not show up in the pics. I definitely belive you, though. Can you tell me if you notice this in all light or just certain kinds (outdoor, indoor, fluorescent)? Also, does your skintone change much over the course of the year? Like when you get a little sun? I can't really tell from the pics whether it needs to be more neutral, more yellow, or just a different texture.
Another thing you can do for dullness is to add in a little Glow Base in place of a few of the white scoops. All Purpose is a good choice, too. It will likely blend up slightly differently than what you are using. I am guessing you will need less white.

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Hi Jen!
Sorry, I wasn't wearing SN in those photos. I thought I had deleted the one photo I took of myself while wearing SN but I just found it. I'll attach it here.
I do tan so my color does change during the year if I get any sun. I don't get as much on my face though because I'm always wearing mineral makeup.
I think it's in all light that the color seems off. I've tried going a bit darker and a bit lighter with it but that didn't help either. It's kinda like I need just a touch of color. I've been told that I have a peachy undertone so maybe I should try adding the tinyest bit of peach? Maybe the different formula will help also. I'll keep playing with it.
I use the Blur tinted powder over my foundation. Should I try adding some of that or get a sample of glow.
Sorry the photos are so big! Ugh! I didn't want everyone to see my pores!
I can't seem to get them any smaller though.

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
kellyboo- By adding Peach base, you will essentially be adding red to the mix you have. It might be that there is too much of a golden tone in Warm Gold for you. For that reason, the Peach on its own might be good, and surprisingly, a mix of the two might be good, too. If I really try and analyze the pic, it is almost like the shade is a tad yellow.
Try a sample of Peach. I am going to warn you that it is very dark...probably the darkest base we have, so you won't need much. (I am thinking like a 1:16+ ratio.) Try it on its own. If you find that this looks flat or too pink(needs yellow), then you are probably somewhere in between Peach and Warm Gold. A blend of the two bases at your depth will be spot on..and we may need to do some serious math to work out a recipe, but it can be done, and I am more than happy to help. Unfortunatley for you, it looks like you don't fall in one base category.

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
LOL lucky me!
I kinda thought that too when I first ordered my samples and funnily enough, I only ordered peach and warm gold. I did try the peach first and yeah, I got it too dark.
I could already tell that it wasn't going to be right for me though, too pink, so I went with the warm gold and thought I had a perfect match at first. Now I'm thinking the same thing, it's gonna be a mix of the two. I just wanted to be sure that I didn't need another base color or anything before I placed my order. Thanks so much Jen!!
I still have some warm gold mix and some peach mix that I can play with but I kinda need to start over to get my recipe. And I want to try the All Purpose Ivory!
Do you have a suggestion as to where to start when mixing the AP Ivory, Warm Gold and Peach?

The best thing is to start with a few less than you were normally using and lighten from there. If you were a 1:8...start at 1:6 and adjust from there. I have seen some that say they need less white, but I have also seen others mentioning that they needed more white. I do think it depends on how fair you are to begin with.kellyboo wrote:LOL lucky me!

The only other thing I can think that you might possibly need would be Yellow Booster. You might be best off with a blend of Peach base and Yellow Booster.
