photogoddess,
Ingredient changes are always something to be aware of.....I do think it lists on our main ingredients page what each one of those ingredients do. Samples are a wonderful thing, and you are right in that not everything works for everyone.

Can you give me a quick reminder of what goes into Buff Perfect (it was added after my time there)? Is it a 50/50 blend of Fairly Light and Fairly Light Neutral, or is it one of the Olives and FLN? Can you give me any other background on your past makeup other than EDM? Known undertones? Without a pic or more information, it will be hard to give a good starting point. Especially since the foundation was not quite right.

Part of the pores thing is that MMU tends to dry skin out more than plump it up. Add a foundation that is not quite the right color to dryer skin and you have a recipe for enhancing pores.

This may be a dumb questions, but I ordered the deluxe sample kit - which I am loving...but what formula is this? Original, Medium, Heavy? I would like to reorder bigger sized because I am loving the finish, but not sure which coverage I have. Thanks!!

Babydoll-
Our Original foundation comes in the Deluxe sample kit....so it is the lightest coverage.

thank you Jen, I really appreciate the response! I will have to look up Buff Perfect mix because I am not quite sure. I do make a mix now that seems similar to Perfect that is 2 parts Ivory, 1 part Soft Buttered Peach, and 1 part Buff Light Neutral if that is at all helpful! :)

I don't think I have particularly dry skin, but I can def. see your point with a foundation that if slightly off showing off the ol' pores! It must be what's going on! Plus, I know my mix isn't quite working either, but it seems close, but I am not sure what's off about it.

I will try to find a photo to give you an idea (I will have to search for one with natural light). It has been forever since I have worn anything but EDM, but in drugstore brands I usually ended up getting the lightest possible shade, but looking back at them, they all seem too orange. I was wearing Buff Ivory for awhile but I realized that was way too light for me.

Another former EDM'er here! I am currently wearing Buff Linen and would love some advise on what I need to mix from SN.

Here is a pic where I am wearing no makeup, but there are a few swatches from EM on my face.
I don't know if I am a warm or a cool. My hair is not quite that dark (it was still damp) and I have green eyes. My veins are blue.

BTW, this pic was taken about a year ago and I have lost 25 pounds since then. So my face is not that chubby now! :D

I also need some help. My face is a good few shades darker than my neck, so sometimes when I look in the mirror it kind of looks like its floating. If I want them to match and try a lighter foundation, it just makes my face look dusty, with the darkness of my face peeking through. Is there a way to make them match and look natural? In EDM terms I'd say my neck is around golden fawn and my face buttered tan :?

Jan - swatches aside, you look pretty cool/neutral to me. I'd start with maybe 1 ebony to 12 ivory in the original formula and see how it goes - you may need a *smidge* of warm gold but I'm not seeing much in the way of warm undertones. I would buy two ivories, though - as light as you are, the colour base will last forever, but you'll go through the ivory pretty quickly, especially if you have to tweak a bit.

I found a Buttered Tan over there, but not a Golden Fawn - there's a Golden Medium - is that the one?

I have problems with EDM shades (I've ordered them in the past and they weren't nearly true to picture, I hope that's changed), but I'm guessing that maybe 8 or 9 Ivory to 1 Olive would suit you - or you may do well with warm gold. It's hard to tell without seeing a picture of you, but try the sample kit - one of those two ought to do the trick, and hopefully even things out a bit. If your face and neck are drastically different shades, then trying to fully even them out will probably result in what's already happened - you'll look dusty or cakey. I think if you get a good face match, it's probably best to go with that, and not worry too much about your neck - a tad of foundation in the same tone, but a little bit lighter if your neck is a lot lighter is better than trying to do two different colours entirely.

Let's see what Jen thinks - or if there are any EDM users here who are your same shade.

Fawn is under the golden category =]
I AM going to order the sample kit, but i was wondering if i should mix to match my face or neck :P Oh and I'm Chinese so I was thinking more towards butterey gold. My neck is a pale yellow, but my face is tanned, so its yellowy slightly orangey and gray and ashy normally from being unhealthy x_x

My coloring right now would be closer the the last two pics since its winter.

Thanks - in the pictures you do look more buttery gold. If those are without makeup, your neck doesn't look bad - my advice stands. Don't try to lighten up your face several shades to get a perfect match. Granted, I'm on the uber-pale side, and my neck is even lighter than my face, but if I match my face, there isn't a jarring line or anything - whereas if I try to match my neck, my face looks positively ashy grey.

I'd go maybe 8 or 9 ivory to 1 buttery gold to start, and play with a little bit as necessary.
