Hello Silk Naturals Foundation Matcher Extraordinare,
I am DYING to place my first foundation order, but am in quite the quandary. I have no idea whether I am "warm" or "cool" (your opinion in this regard would be most helpful!) nor what my undertones might be. I honestly don't even have a clue. Makeup artists and SA always tell me different things, and no matter what, I tend to look like an orange Oompah Loompah, pinkish-grey, or pasty white. I think I'm probably pretty neutral, but again, I am no expert in such things.
I would also love, love, love your opinion as to a blush or two that would look good with my skin and maybe a lipstick. Also, which "glow" do you think would look best? I've already got the translucent perfecting powder and love it.
The first picture I'm posting is totally makeup-free, but the resolution is not so hot. In the second one, I do have a little makeup on (along with a super sultry squinty-eyed pirate face lol), but it's natural outdoor lighting and better resolution, so it may give you a better idea what my skin actually looks like.
Also, do you have an opinion on whether I would need to use original, medium, or full coverage to get an "airbrushed" "flawless" skin look?

I can absolutely see why the SAs have a tough time with you. In one pic you look kind of warmish, and in the other, somewhat cool. I am looking at what you have thought of foundations in the past, too. The too orange.....mostly that means it was too dark. But the grayish pink comment leads me to believe that there was not enough yellow in your foundation. I really do still recommend a sample kit with all the base colors. I really am leaning Buttery Gold at about 1 scoop color to 14 or so Ivory. I think the Ebony will fall into that grayish category for you, and Warm might turn out to be too orange unless you get it light enough. I would still try the Warm Gold, too, at a ratio of 1:15. And if those are all wrong, we can look at Peach, but my gut says Buttery.
Blushes and Lipstick start to fall in the categories of personal preference. For a nudish look.....Maybe Baby Blush, Negligee Lipstick. For more along the pink lines, Stardust or Babydoll Blush and Fashionista Lipstick. The best glows for you will be Angel and Cherub, or if you want a Perfecting Glow (kind of like Perfecting Powder plus glow), Crystal.
I always recommend starting light in coverage and moving up to medium or heavy if you think you need it. It is much easier to match your foundation if it is lighter coverage. Also, your skin is lovely.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.....I think you're totally right about the "buttery gold" and am about to place an order for everything you suggested, including the blushes and the lippies

I will post a picture once I get the color right so you can see the results! Thanks again!

OK Jen - So I did the Warm Gold 1:10 and it is a tad light. How do I fix this? I can't add another whole scoop of Warm Gold and it is such a tiny amount. Would you double the mix and use less white or try to add just a smidge of the the warm gold? BTW I am loving the feel of this foundation and how long it lasts. SN = where have you been all of my MMU life. I am still waiting to see if it breaks me out, as I am super prone to breakouts....only time will tell!!

Babydoll-
You have a few options.
-You can remix at about 1:7. And if this is right, you can adjust the other when making a bigger batch. (Dump your first mix in and add roughly 1 scoop WG and 4 more ivory, for instance, giving an overall 1:7.)
-Or you can just try to add a smidge of Warm Gold for this batch so it is still usable. Then next time you mix try about a 1:7 to start. 8 might match even better, but it is easier to add a scoop of Ivory than take one out.
If the 1:7 is right, you can easily scale up (use a larger measuring spoon!...1/4 tsp. works great)

Hello! What would be the SN original equivalent to EDM Olive Fair and Golden Fair? I find that a little more yellow wouldn't hurt but I wear those two shades mixed. I find that together they help a little to hide the pink in my face. Thank you! ^^ Oh, I'll attach a picture of me with no makeup to help!

Ageha,
Try Warm Gold (there are both golden and olive tones in it). Probably about 1 scoop color base to around 10 Ivory base.

Thank you, Jen! I will order a sample kit and try mixing with those base colors. I hope it will work for me. I had such a hard time with EDM bases. D;

Another EDM girl here looking for my HG foundation! I have heard so many good things about SN that I jumped on the bandwagon and now I am here for advice! I have a few questions about the color obviously, but I am also wondering about some of the ingredients of SN only because my skin seems to be so sensitive with new products.
First, I am currently wearing Buff Perfect in EDM, which seems to be the best match yet in EDM, but it still seems slightly off. I don't know what it is, but I don't like the way my pores (rather large around my nose in the cheek area) seem to scream "LOOK AT HOW BIG I AM" once i finish my makeup, fix etc. etc. It looks fine in one light, then in another I can really tell that my make up seems to sit on my face without blending in. After a bit it looks better, but I am hoping I can get a better look with SN after reading all the reviews. I do use rose water/glycerin once after I have my foundation on, then again after I use the finishing powder. I can't tell if it is the finishing powder or the foundation that makes everything look off. (sorry for the ramble) What mix would I start with to get close to EDM Buff Perfect?
The other question I have is does anyone (EDM ladies feel free to chime in) have issues with SN Base? I noticed there are a few ingredients in SN that are not in EDM and I want to make sure I am not putting myself into a breakout situation. I have no issues with any of the EDM makeup, and I want to be sure the extra ingredients are non-irritating. I know everyone is different, but just a general idea is good. i have read what each of them do, but I would love some personal input if at all possible. I won't know until I try it out, but if the Magnesium Stearate, Boron Nitride, and Silica Microspheres (no problems with silk powder, EDM had one a while back and I never had issues) were an issue for anyone, I would love to have a heads up.
TIA! I look forward to getting a foundation sample kit as soon as I know where to start!
