Honestly, as a Medium Beige, you would be mostly Ebony as your color base. However, the Olive might work, too, as it is high on the beige. I would try a scoop of Olive and about 8 scoops Ivory or one scoop Ebony and about 5 scoops Ivory. They might need to be a little lighter than those numbers, too. I bet the two mixed together would be spot on, but you need to try them on their own, too.krenee wrote:all right, I really think I need to start over with foundation. I've made so many little mixes, with a little of this, and a little of that, and I have just made it more difficult than it needs to be. If I was new and didn't know anything about it, and said I was a medium beige, what would you tell me to mix? I think I will start there. I think that is my problem - I have a true "beige" skin tone and therefore it has a mixture of a little pink, a little yellow, a little peach, a little olive - so everything I try looks "okay".

Re: Foundation Recipes :-)
Does it make sense that this works for me:
5 ivory: 2 WG: 1BG: 1 Olive
I tired it without the Olive and it seemed just a tad too yellow, but the Olive seemed to correct that. Is there something else I can try that won't require me to have to buy 3 different base colors?
Thanks for your help!

Re: Foundation Recipes :-)
Did you try the Olive on its own? If you still need more yellow, you should probably at least be able to drop out the Buttery and use less Ivory. There is a little yellow in the Warm Gold. Olive should balance out with the Warm Gold to give you enough yellow without overdoing it. If you dropped out the Warm Gold, I think it will be too yellow.

Re: Foundation Recipes :-)
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it tonight. I do love the way my complicated formula looks (though, I probably could get away with 6 ivory).
I'll be back if it doesn't work!
Thanks so much for the help!

Thanks Jen - it worked perfectly!
Do you have any suggestions for what I can add to make it have a warm glow? The buttery gave me a nice sun kissed look, which I like.
Thank you!

yogagirl-
My first reaction is Tempt Tryst (it has a golden sheen), but a few others that might add a warm glow would be Heavenly Glow or Pristine Perfecting Glow.

Re: Foundation Recipes :-)
Hi all
I just tried my hand at the Buttery Gold kit. However, I still can't get a match to my yellowish neck. 4ivory:1BG is too brownish while 6ivory:1BG appears to have an ashy tint on my face. Is there any way I could turn it more true yellow and do away with the beige/ brown? I keep hearing about this yellow corrector, but I can't seem to find it on the SN website
Edit: Ooo, I found this Yellow Color Booster for foundation when I clicked on "View All Products". That sneaky little....

Re: Foundation Recipes :-)
Aaaaaand I came up with a new mix again. Every couple month or so I go through this 'maybe I can try something new, make it even better!' - and my boyfriend just loves it (I'm pretty sure he does :p) when I keep walking up to him 'half-facing': does this work? does this match? too dark?
Newest:
20 medium ivory
20 glow
20 sheer zinc
5 ebony
1 buttery gold
2 tempt tryst
I also mix my finishing powder: 10 untinted oc blur to 7 t.t.
So far so good

Re: Foundation Recipes :-)
I'm glad your new mix worked for you! I tried a new mix for me with a *lot* more glow than I previously used. OMG, it was so awful.......I saw pores where I didn't even know I had'em.

Re: Foundation Recipes :-)
Laurie, I can relate, luckily for me I had extra medium on hand, so I just added till I got the right less glowy look, and then tweaked the color somemore with my warm gold. Now it is much better, but I have NO idea how much of what is in it, so the next batch will also be an experience, at least I know that I generally use a 1:8 ratio, so that should help
