Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
I am not sure where to post this so hopefully this is the correct area for my question
I just put in my order for the medium coverage starter kit and I was wondering if it comes with a sifter jar and measuring scoop?

Very pale and tending toward yellow really does not fall into our Ebony range. Although, Ebony plus Yellow Booster might come out about perfect. The Cool Fair kind of surprises me because there is not any yellow in it, and Cool Fair would fall into our Ebony range. I am guessing a 1 scoop color to about 10+ white. I think we can pretty much rule out the other bases, so Ebony plus white, and maybe the Yellow Booster.srburk wrote:I think I'm ready to order and try things out to see if the foundation here works better than the one I am using. I am very pale and tending toward yellow....blue veins, wear cool colors, look really awful in any makeup with any brown or peach in it whatsoever...like I put dirt on my face. I am currently wearing EDMs Cool Fair, which is a good match and evens out my skin tone well.
If I've read correctly....I just need the ebony to add to the base? Or should I order a full sample kit? (I promise I am not warm toned at all...)

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
The ratios will be close, but generally you need less white in your ratio the heavier your coverage. If 1:20 in Original, it will be close to 1:17-18 in Medium and 1:14-16 in Heavy. My best advice is to start darker than you think (less white) and add white as needed.kawaiiferreto wrote:I wouldn't have even thought to try the Olive. Although my mother and grandmother both have/had flat out olive complexions so I guess I should have. How many scoops do you think I'd need of the medium coverage ivory? Or the heavy coverage, for that matter? I tend to like a bit more coverage, and I used up all of my original coverage white sample in failed experiments already anyway, so I figure I might as well try both of those as well.

Re: Which foundation for me?
I would try Olive at about 1 scoop color to 7-9 white.....it may need a touch of yellow by adding Yellow Booster. Normally, I would have categorized you as a warm, but I think we will have more room to adjust the color if we start with Olive. Warm Gold is pretty close to your skintone and would be in a ratio of about 1 scoop Warm gold to 1-3 white. You are more then welcome to try both! Those colors are available in the sample kit with all the color bases.steph3eme wrote:Hi! I've been using EM in Golden Medium Tan and I'm a MAC NC44 with oily/sensitive/acne-prone skin. Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
It probably would have been a better description to say that I'm pale and kind of sallow...not a peaches and cream or a clear ivory tone (like you sometimes see with people with black hair or dark hair and blue eyes....). But I am the kind of pale that burns in five minutes or less. I will try the Ebony and white and see how it turns out. The Cool Fair is maybe a teeny bit off from my face, but it matches my neck exactly and evens out some slight redness due to age and acne scars.JenW wrote:Very pale and tending toward yellow really does not fall into our Ebony range. I think you are going to be in the Ebony or Warm Gold range. I would try 1 scoop Ebony plus 7 scoops white for starters. If it needs to be a little brighter, we might need to add a little Warm Gold plus a few more scoops of White. Since you wore Intensive before, you will probably want to try the Medium Coverage Ivory base.ezieta wrote:Hi,

The Climax blush looks lovely on you. For slightly a plum tone try Desert Plum. For peach/pink try Stardust.
What are you wanting for eyeshadow? Do you like matte colors, or a little shimmer? Do you like bright colors, or something more neutral? What colors of clothing do you like to wear? These questions will help me to pick some colors for you.

thank you so much for your guidance. My parcel is still "flying " to me, so I cant start with my work

Regarding eyeshadow:
I prefer matte colours- Im 40+ years old and have few wircles around eyes-shimmer doesnt look nice. I like neutral colours beige, brown, violet, grey but everything very light and not bright. My favourite colours of cloths: navy

How about lipstick? I use now Bobbi lipstick SN-this is my favourite colour and looks neutral for me-I dont like red or pink lips.
Which colour of lisptick will fit for me?
Thank you so much for all suggestion. Im very unpatient waiting for my order..
Best regards
Ela
Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Alright folks, I'm going to put some makeuped and makeupless pictures in here, but I'm also going to tack on a warning. I just cured my acne a few months ago, so while I don't have any pimples, I still look pretty janked. Also, that is how I normally smile. I'm aware that I look like a psycho, I can't help it. It's the big eye thing. Also, yes. My face is crooked, my hair is growing out from a pixie so it's also janked, and I don't go outside much so the sun was doing a number on my eyeballs. Those are my excuses.
Please help me, oh wonderful people of the Silk Naturals board. I believe I have cool undertones, I don't feel like I need a whole lotta coverage (though my pictures suggest the opposite), and I really like a very natural look (no glitter here, but I'm not stapled to the idea of matte matte matte). I use Retin-A, which means that I wear sunscreen all the time because I have to, and it also means that I am prone to oil as well as periods of extreme flaking and peeling. I'd really like suggestions for base/foundation thing, blush, and maybe a subtle eyeshadow that isn't super glittery (I'm 17 and I already look pretty darn old and that's not really what I'm going for). What coverage should I go with? Also, does SN photograph well or ghost when a flash is introduced? If you have anything to say outside of those that's fine as well, any tips would be great, or things you think I should try. I've never used mineral makeup before (mainly because my skin was so weird and I wasn't comfortable with trying stuff).
So pictures in varying sunlight (taken around sunset):
No makeup in the shade
No makeup in direct sunlight
Makeup in the shade
The makeup is:
-L'Oreal True Match in C1
-Covergirl loose powder of some sort
-ELF Natural Radiance Blush in Glow
-NYC Metro Quartet Eyeshadow in South Street Seaport (dark brown used as eyeliner)
-Cherry Chapstick
And my eyelashes are curled
I'm not really interested in being tan, which is good because I don't tan, but this is an example of a general look that I like, taken from Everyday Minerals lookbook. Have at it, and thank you for helping people in the first place.
