My friend from work is doing a fun run for charity, so she' been in training for a few months and now she loves running. Good on you keep it up. I may not be into running (yet) but I can aerob, salsa and zumba my ass off!!!!

I did muay thai. And actually... an impromptu dinner party took precedence over class tonight... but I'll have another chance on Sunday to redeem myself. I'd always hated running before now, the new shoes made all the difference for me. Now I don't get shin splints or sore knees. I've also heard from CrossFit people that the paleo diet improves endurance so maybe there's a bit of that too.
I've heard that zumba is fun from several people... sounds like a great workout

If you are gaining weight, it must be muscle! You are doing such a good job!

Thanks! I've been on Weight Watchers since April 5th. I peaked at about a size 20, and now I wear a size 8!

So I don't think I've chimed in on this thread, I guess it's about time I do. I jogged with my brother earlier today for the first time. I couldn't keep up with him, but I told him ahead of time that I wouldn't be able to. I feel so old and weak now, but I jogged more today than I ever have in one shot before. I literally felt like I was going to be sick when we got done, but after that passed I felt great. Except apparently I'm clenching my jaw as we go, because I get awful tmj pains- jaw tension the eventually makes my neck and upper shoulders really stiff and sore. Maybe a sports guard would help? I don't know. I'm almost tempted to wear my night guard next time.

Congrats on your workout Christine! As a fellow TMJD sufferer, I say, wear your night guard! For you to have a sports guard it would need to be special made in order to not put further tension on your jaw...often the ones in stores are too thick and can cause the same stiffness and pain. I was told to wear my nightguard wherever I do my clenching the most, so for a while I wore it while on the computer!

Yay everyone!
Yeah, totally get that 'exercised until you feel like you are going to spew' feeling. I hate it though!
I went to the gym yesterday and did a body balance class (a mix of tai chi, pilates and yoga), it was soooo good. I used to do ashtanga yoga before I had kids, but have done nothing like that for years, why did I ever stop??? (I was so fit

I used to run, do yoga, do weights, do lots of dance and 'blitz' classes... when I had dd#1 I was a single mum, so just couldn't make it to the gym, and then I got out of the habit... I wish I hadn't!)
The good news is I am not as unfit as I thought, and am still pretty flexible (or maybe it was just an easy class, lol!)
I have plans to do a step class tomorrow and then sh'bam (dance class) on thursday. Yay!

Great job Lily
My throat has been killing my ever since I ran. I had a horrible coughing fit when I got home, now my glands feel all swollen and sore. I know it's not from running, but I think the overexertion brought out the faint sore throat I'd been having for a few days prior. I'm actually grateful for the rain, because I might have tried to push myself to run again tonight. I'm sore all over too. I guess going from walking occasionally to running like that wasn't the smartest idea. Maybe just fast walking is a better option for me. I need to get on tract for losing weight. I want to look great in my wedding dress next year.

Paleo FAIL. In the last three days I ate: fried chicken (three times), potato chips (in small quantities, these are normally fine, but I ate more in 48 hours than I care to admit), and peanut M&Ms (a handful). I can normally eat a few regular M&Ms but not the ones with peanuts because they are legumes. I also ate two gummy bears which were made of corn syrup and tasted like poison kinda. I have a tummy ache.
Ugh. Back to Paleo and back to the gym tomorrow.
Pass the salad.

Hope you feel better soon Christine. Definitely the extra exertion could have brought on the sore throat, your body is obviously in muscle healing mode, and that takes energy. It always hurts when you start though, keep it up!
Zeebs, I don't know how you can keep up the paleo diet, I am sooo bad about food

I definitely agree with the principles of the paleo diet, I am just a super sugar addict! Where are some more resources for learning about the paleo diet? All I know is the basic idea, I didn't realise that legumes were off limits (I love legumes!)
Tomorrow morning is step, which will be humilitating because I haven't done it for so long and have forgotton all the moves

wish me luck!

No, no, no shame! Life happens

As long as you're determined to get back to it, you're good, no need to beat up yourself, ya hear?
I have to keep coming back here for inspiration, my threadmill sessions are long overdue.
