Go, Zeebs!! Keep track of all the money you're NOT spending on ciggies so you can treat yourself to your SN addiction! We're all very proud of you, as I'm sure hubby is. Continue to hold one another up. You're half-way to a new habit of NOT smoking! L.

DH fell off the wagon yesterday. :(
But I am starting day 16!

L-- are you encouraging my other addiction? I like that kind of enabling.

I would not be so callous to actually do this, but my ultimate tip for quitting smoking would be to post a photo of my mother today. She just got diagnosed with heart disease following a heart attack five days ago attributed to smoking. If you could look at her face right now and see the pain, and look into her eyes and see the fear - and double that knowing this is all self-inflicted because all the "suffering" from trying to quit earlier seemed too hard to be worth sticking to...

I know she would pay any price to have the chance to go through that quitting smoking suffering right now, and do so gladly, because if you saw the far worse suffering she's doing right now (and putting us through) you would KNOW that the 'hardship' in quitting is worth it.

She will be fairly fine, by the way. She has one last chance and looks like she will take it. She now takes it seriously enough because she's just looked death in the eye and realised what was at stake. Good luck Zeebs, I truly feel for you going through this and hope this helps in a positive way.

Yes, it does. Thank you for posting this. I hope your mother recovers smoothly and that she can feel well.

I am glad to hear you are back on. We all suffer setbacks........they are normal. The true success is in getting right back to your plan. The sooner you can get back with it, the sooner you win over your addiction, whatever it may be.

Dang those setbacks! Glad to see you've pulled yourself up by the bootstraps. Now that you know that resistance can waiver at a party, plan ahead how to avoid the temptation next time. Then buy some new makeup!!!! Think about how your lungs must be relishing the crisp fall air. I'm sure your skin is already looking better, and you'll have more sparkle in your eyes (I don't think Karen makes anything that can counter bloodshot eyeballs). Keep us posted, Zeebs, we're all cheering for you. L.

Month 1: smoked three cigs, on two occasions, but got right back on the horse after falling off. Both were social occasions and only secondarily due to addiction. stayed quit when DH started again.

Month 2: day 2.
