Hi guys

Dun.........dun.........dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

I got weighed today and I gained 2lbs. Those scale are out to get me, no I've been comfort eating (cakes aren't all bad are they) and I haven't been drinking enough water (ben & jerry's frozen yoghurt ice cream has water in it right? )

Seriously though my left knee has been aching on and off for a year now, popped to the doctors yesterday and I have an x-ray appointment tomorrow at the hospital. Because it's been hurting I've been doing less exercise so that's contributing to.

Right got to be good to lose weight next week. Scale eat my fat cells!!!!!!!!

Ghost: You really are an inspiration, so you gained 2 pounds this week, it will come off next week. I love your haircut and it really frames your face.
Reading your progress has motivated me, but vacation has me in the same point as you. I"ve out on 3 pounds, I will be finished with vacation on the 17th and then it is back to work and back to being a good girl to get the extra off, and continue to work on getting some more off, I have lost 30, but have at least another 40 to go.

Ghost, those before and after pics are incredible!! Big congrats to you for all your hard work, it's so nice that this is one of those things you can have tangible proof of to remind yourself how far you've come!

Congrats to you too Tizzylou, losing and keeping off 30 lbs is an impressive feat!

Zeebs--I wear FiveFinger shoes too! Absolutely adore them, am using them to help heal plantar fasciitis and hopefully strengthen the arches in my feet (I have flat feet and some wearers say they've actually developed arches after about a year of wear). My brother has been running in them for years and swears by them, I think he has 3 pairs now! Granted, they do look funny, but I'd rather be in bare feet than anything else and these "shoes" are the only things I can wear on my feet that don't make me feel off balanced. I still feel in touch with the ground beneath my feet...just gotta watch out for big stones. ;) I don't run in them (because I don't run! :P ) but thanks to them I can walk the dog around the block without the muscles in my calves/feet seizing up!

Way to kick butt!!!! BTW...I'd work a month straight for chocolate with no calories!

Karen, 70% and up chocolates are soooo rich that you can't each much, so you can stay within your limit. Not 0 but close enough ;)

My quest: good red vine with all the flavor, but fraction of calories and buzz. I'm thinking spritzers, but umm, prolly not what I'm looking for? Sigh.

Mmmmm...yes, dark chocolate is so yummy! I want no calorie Snickers- but goodness knows what they'd put in it.
I like your red wine idea a lot! The whole reason I don't really drink is because I can't hold it, and the next day is icky. I have been sipping on white sweet vermouth and diet grapefruit soda- refreshing on a hot day, and weak enough that I can have more than one!

Oh yeah, beware of the 'diet' stuff: your body has no clue what to do with some of the things they put in there, doesn't know how to process or eliminate, so it just stores it. That's a pretty generic comment, but yeah, dun wanna preach here :)
I'm not necessarily saying you should eat two avocados for breakfast, but *may* be better (in moderation and with some cocoa, mmm, for sure) than a diet yogurt.

I can't do sweet liquor: headache city! But your cocktail does sound nice! We have our own soda water machine, and you could try just squeezing some fresh lemon or grapefruit juice into soda water or club soda? Here is the machine we use: http://www.sodastreamusa.com/Fountain-Jets-C23.aspx
Soooo convenient!

Maybe I will try spritzers next time: the water I should be drinking between the glasses of wine is already built in ;) My biggest problem is that I eat silly when I erm, have some wine, so it's double trouble: empty calories + silly foods.

I'm currently preparing for the cruise by eating very consciously - I read that the average weight gain is 5lbs, hehehe. That's about how much I usually pick up on vacations anyway, discipline just doesn't fit in the luggage I'm taking ;)

Oh I am so with you all on the wine! One glass of red and I'm away...

I love a bit of fresh lime squeezed in to soda water. If you're looking for something a little alcoholic a splash of vodka goes brilliantly too!

Andrea - I think the regular stuff in moderation is waaay healthier than the diet versions. You can be tempted to eat too much 'low fat spread' or whatever and all those artificial sweeteners play havock with your 'i'm hungry' receptors. Two avocados for breakfast could work wonders for a diet though - who'd want to eat anything after two early morning avocados?!!?!? Have a super lovely cruise (I've started a new job so not foruming like I used to so will wish you happy holidays now!) and whatever you do don't watch what you're eating ;)
