Your cousin looks to be an Ebony or Peach. Ebony will be about 1:8...Peach about 1:16 or more (Peach is one of our deepest base colors.) Good for you on helping her get a good start.

You look like a Warm Gold to me. Try about 1 scoop color to around 5 Ivory.

Jen...you're awesome, you were dead on with your 1:3 deep ebony for me

My order came so fast, and I didn't even need the peach sample that I ordered. Maybe next summer, but I'm loving SN. I used it last night, so I don't have a natural light shot, but here it is.
1:3 Deep Ebony, Carnal blush, Gleaming gloss -- which by the way is a great match for my discontinued MAC Lure X lipglass. I think I can finally stop hoarding those last 2 drops

I love how smooth the foundation went on, I was surprised that when I went to apply it & dipped in my brush how little of a dust cloud puffed up, my sink & counters can finally be spared again!

Even though I don't wear makeup, all of these super positive posts are making me want to try the foundation...Jen, I need your magic!
Any extra colors I need to pick up besides the basic intro kit?
Also, just wanted to clarify: when you said to go with the lighter Sleep in a Jar, did you mean Light Peach or the original formula? Or should I grab both? I have no idea what color my under eye circles are.

I hope this isn't too much of a hijack but I was wondering why Karen recommended Perfecting Powder over Blur for photos? The descriptions seem like Blur is better for oil control and Perfecting Powder is more matte, but I have no idea what that means in terms of interchangeability. Are the ingredients different? How pink/yellow/tan are the different tint colors?
Yes, I'm a curious kitty. I must know everything!

Thanks for your patience! I can see that you are definitely on the fairer end of things. You said you have worn BE in Fairly Light? That works out to our Warm Gold in about a 1:10 ratio. If you have more yellow, you might want to try Buttery Gold in about the same ratio. I still really recommend the Perfect Harmony sample kit. If the Warm Gold is too yellow, you may need to add some Ebony to your mix. Didn't Olive even come up in some of your other posts? Our Olive is not super green. It is more in the mid range. I don't think a mix of that would match too badly, either, especailly if the Warm Gold is too yellow/peach. In Olive you will be about a 1:14. Original Coverage should suit you just fine.
I can't really pinpoint which of the Sleep In a jars will work best for you. I am about the same skin depth and I wear Light Peach in the summer when I am a little tan, and Extra Light Peach in the Winter when the tan fades. My best match in BE is also Fairly Light, but it was little orangey on me.

Blur reflects light more than regular Perfecting Powder does. Nice for in person, but it doesn't look as good in photographs.

Ack, I missed this....as for the colors, the Untinted Blur would probably be better for you. As for the Perfecting Powders, The Original is translucent, and the Date Bait will give a very slight pink to someone of your foundation, and the Tempt Tryst might show slightly golden. I think Love Lure will be more like a bronzer on you.
The one that will work best for photographs is probably the Original Perfecting Powder. I know you like the matte of Mineral Veil for photos....but perhaps our Original Foundation might work. It is matte, and you would have control over the color. I know it was formulated with photography in mind.

Jen: Here is my mix with the Vegan formula. I think it matches my neck perfectly. Do you think it needs more yellow or Warm gold?
Thank you!

It looks really good in the pic. I don't think it needs anything!

Thank you Jen. I thought it looked good too, but never trust my own judgement. lol. I took the photo in the window so I got full sun, but I think the curtain shaded my forehead a bit which is good because I could see how it looks in direct light and indoor lighting. Thank you for all your advice. I so would have picked the wrong color to mix with the ivory without your help.
Oh, and I am loving the Black Dahlia lip gloss! I am wearing it in the photo. I thought it would be really dark, but it is not too dark for me at all.
