Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
annajyu,
You are in luck, because our Buttery Gold is a yellow/olive blend. I think it is exactly what you need. Try 1 scoop color to about 4-5 Ivory. I really don't think you will need a blend of color bases. If the Buttery mix on its own isn't quite right we will go from there. If anything, you will probably just need to darken it with Buttery a bit.
Tempt Tryst will be a great finisher choice for you.

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Jen,
I just got my samples today from my first order. I placed it before you mentioned the yellow color booster. I decided to try the buttery gold, so I did:
1 Warm gold to 8 ivory and then added 1 buttery gold and two more ivory. The undertones appear to be perfect for me, but my mix is about a level too dark for me. Should I just add .5 ivory at a time until it lightens enough, or would 1scoop at a time be better?
When my next order comes in I will try it with the yellow booster. Because I used the buttery gold, I am thinking I should have added in extra ivory to your suggestion earlier.

Hi Jen -
As you know I feel like I can wear the Warm Gold or Ebony, but I wanted to know your thoughts on the swatches. The one closest to my ear is 1.5 warm gold to 9 ivory (original). the middle is 1 Ebony: 8 Ivory (original), the last one is 1.5 Warm Gold to 8 Ivory (medium). I like the full face of the with the warm golds, but I look a tad washed out....maybe they need to be darker. The Ebony one on a full face is pretty good. Please let me know what you think.
swatches:

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Another EM refugee seeking foundation help!
So I don't have a good picture of me, but i'll try and describe what I see the best I can. Firstly after more than a year with EM I'm still not sure of my undertones so I'm a total cluts lol. I'm scandinavian and during the winter I'm deathly pale but I do tan a bit during the summer, the tanning part has always been the problem when it came to decide the undertones since all the descriptions of cooled toned coloring fit me accept the fact that cool toned people only burn. Anyway here's me
Blue/gray eyes not particularly light but then again not dark blue. And no sorts of golden or greenish flecks.
Dirty blonde/ashy light brown hair that used to be platinum blonde when I was little.
My veins look anything green green to purple depending how close to the surface they are.
My face is slightly darker tan my neck and a bit more pink, not ruddy or anything just a little more pink. And My neck is slightly more on the yellow side.
I look best in pastels and primary colors, prefer silver jewelry over gold unless I have a bit of a tan, then I can do warmer colors anf gold.
During summer if I'm just careful in the begining and don't spend the first sunny days at the beach or somewhere warmer, I don't burn but slowly tan to something that looks very fresh and sunkissed (think a summery gwyneth paltrow).
In EM I've tried the cools; buffs and the beiges but they where all a bit off
Sandy fair: it's light enough but I looked a bit yellow/beige
Cool fair: I'm not sure if this was a bit to pink or if it oxidized a bit on me making it look slightly to dark/pink
buff ivory: a bit to brown/dark
Buff perfect: looked quite nice in the summer but maybe a bit yellow
cool pink tan: looked good maybe a bit dark during summer
At the moment I'm wearing a mix of Sandy fair and cool fair (50/50)and that seems to be working the best so far.
Any tips/hints would be greatly appreciated!

Diana-
Yes, you can just try adding a little more Ivory at a time....go ahead with one scoop at a time. You never know, it might be just right. But I think the other blend will match better.
The thing about the Warm Gold and Yellow Booster combo is that you are adding yellow without adding much shade depth. Adding Warm Gold to Buttery Gold does add in the undertones you need but with about twice the amount of brown (for lack of a better way to describe it).

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Babydoll,
I remember that 1:8 Warm Gold looked really good.
Your Ebony mix at 1:8 should be in line with about 1 Warm Gold:10-12 white. It has me a little confused. Yes, the Warm Gold Mixes should probably be darker. Ebony tends not to brighten things up by much....it is very neutral. Your Warm Gold mixes at your numbers work out to 1:6 which should be too dark for you. 1:7 might be about right....Did you measure the Warm Gold in half scoops? Try 1:7. Full scoops in a recipe will be easier to replicate....most people tend to skimp on half scoops of anything (except ice cream

plushpez-
I would start with Ebony 1:9 or 10...then we might want to add some color in.....probably yellow.
I suggest getting the sample kit...it may be that Buttery Gold will work on its own. When you get it that light, the yellow seems to need a boost for the very yellow. Try Buttery Gold at about 1:12.

Re: Need Foundation Help? Please post here.......
Hi
Thanks for the suggestion, I would have never picked buttery gold on my own. Maybe I would have tried warm gold but not buttery since I thought it was more yellow and I've never seen myself having much if any warm coloring. All liquid foundations always seem to dark/orange/yellow on me except Stila's playstick in Jax, though I've never exhausted myself looking but rather just skipped foundation lol.

OK Jen -
I am confused too!! I went back to my formula sheet and it is 1:8 Ebony, but the ratio on the Warm gold was 1 & 1/2 scoops to 9 Ivory. (I started with 1:9 and it was too light). I will mix a batch with 1:7 for the ivory and see how that works...you are right, eyeballing a half scoop is quite difficult. Here are my pics together:
Ebony (Original)
http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p338 ... MG2955.jpg
Warm Gold (Medium)
EEKKK...I lost the photo.
I will have to take another tomorrow so you can tell me which you like better. Will the ratios be the same across different finishes (original, medium, vegan)? I got my vegan sampler yesterday and though I would try the 1:7 Warm Gold in that.
Out of curiosity--what do you think my coloring is? I have always been confused...cool, warm, neutral a little of everything? I read somewhere that Warm Gold is olive with peach? It doesn't really matter I was just wondering. I want to get it down between the ebony and wg so I can make a regular size foundation order.
Which do you like better?!?
