Woohoo! Glad to have others in this with me,LOLOL! Jen, I do hope it works out for you & the baby. i've read it's the cat dander that folks are allergic to ~ me included! I have had cats that never bothered me a bit & others that if *a hair* landed on me, I'd be on a sneezing jag!

What I used as litterpans in the cat carrier for the kittens were disposable loaf pans I got at the $ store. They were small enough, yet deep enough, & the kittens used them fine.

I have continued my daily treks to where Lil Bits is. I got a glimpse, ROFL, & I *think* Lil Bits has lil buds, hehe...may be a boy but can still be Bitsy. Hubby is STILL being stubborn ~ against my feminine wiles ~ I may just have to snatch her up & deal with his having a fit until HE falls in love with the furbaby as I have. I will work on him like crazy this week. SEND GOOD VIBES >>> MICHAEL, CHANGE YOUR MIND & ADOPT BITSY! If we concentrate, we CAN do it, I know we can!!!

Drove down there yesterday after my hair cut & Bitsy was out there waiting for me ~ came running, little dear! Same thing this morning. Have not been able to pick her up yet; she's still very skittish but LOVES to be petted if I wait for her/him to head-butt my hand. I WANT THAT CAT! Another week of snuggling with her/him & WORKING ON MY HUBBY, & *hopefully* Bitsy will be here with us.

Keep positive thoughts!!!

DH made her a pen out af a big box. He even put screens on the side so the kids could see her. We have not touched her, yet. I guess we want to have her checked out first. So far we are having problems with a name, but 'Cookie Dough' seems to have stuck, 'Cookie' for short. We got a small litter box, some kitten food, and some kitten formula. She seems to be able to eat dry food just fine, but she also seems a little weak. We will see how it goes.

It is so sad because she is just skin and bones...and fur. I did get to pat her head. Also, she used the litter box like a pro- a good quality for a housecat! My 6 YO Persian is awfully curious. She keeps watching through the glass door.

Hi, Jen,
Cookie Dough is a great name! She actually looks fairly healthy - eyes are bright and inquisitive, coat looks good. You'd be amazed how quickly these babies come around with good care. Hard as it is not to cuddle her, you're smart to wait until she's been checked out by the vet. Good luck with her. She's a doll! Lauren

Jen, Cookie Dough is adorable. My favorite rescued cat, ( I have 3 , 2 of home were strays that we rescued) is my blue russian looking Smokey. He is such a cuddle cat, and is definately a Mommy's baby. I like to think that he loves me so much becuase like you I rescued him when it was bitterly cold ( the first part of December) when he started meowing, and came out of nowhere when I went outside, I wasn't going to keep him, but when he start climbing the screen door and trying to get in out of the cold and snow , and looked like a staving pitful waif , I gave in and put him in the carrier, put it on the top of the washing machine, and made an appointment for the vet.

Cookie Dough (LOVE that,ROFL!) is *precious*! How great that your daughter wants to be a vet, Jen! Your husband's a peach!

I *know* that if Michael saw where Bitsy is living, she'd be here in a heartbeat. He's campaigning against the freeforall that results when a new baby is introduced, but my theory is that it will work itself out.

What a cute ball of fur, I love those blue eyes.

I hope she checks out fine at the vet. Apart from being skinny I think she looks great.

The big report!!!

Cookie Dough is between 5 and 6 weeks old, but might be a little older. She can't have the feline aids test until she is 12 weeks. She should lose her front teeth around 12 weeks and we have to watch for that. So we have to keep the cats seperated until Cookie Dough passes that test. She is definitely a super skinny wild cat. Today she got a distemper shot, and dewormed. We gave her a bath and need to give her flea meds (she has a pretty good infestation). She will eventually be an indoor cat so we have to give her and our Persian flea meds through December. We can pet her, but we have to be washing our hands right away. We can get fleas or ringworm from her (at least for a few more days). Getting worms from her is a slight risk, but usually with smaller kids. We also have to vacuum extensively wherever she has been, and throw away the bag.

I guess we won't know a whole lot more for six weeks or so. She didn't mind her bath. In fact she was purring all cuddled up in the towel. Also, she did not seem to give them much trouble at the Vet. Hopefully the wild in her isn't all that wild.

Great News!! Getting the fleas off her will help immensely with weight gain. Who know how many fleas are chewing on her? Deworming will make a big difference, too. If she tolerated the bath OK and behaved at the vet, those are great signs of potential domesticity (domesticness? You know what I mean). Good luck with her.

My son and his fiancee just adopted a little black male kitten - and named him Shipwreck. Apparently he lives up to his name by tearing up toilet paper, trash-diving, knocking things off the counter, and all those other wonderful things that happy kitties do. Lauren
