I've had that problem with ants in my shower in the summer too. They got my microdermabrasion cream sample.

@Hoyden- Tug Hill is the perfect place if you like snow! 4 wheel drive, ABS- and of course dogs are a huge help. We have an old, heavy rear-wheel drive car, and that fairs pretty well too- once you get out of the driveway. Any time you'd like to visit just let me know! I had a thought about renting a lake house for a weekend in the summer and having an SN slumber party. It's fantastic here in the summer.

Ants got my sugar scrub in the shower! They really don't like peppermint (most bugs hate peppermint). I ended-up spraying a lot of my house with peppermint essential oil mixed with water, and that really helped.

i wonder if house centipedes hate peppermint... i hate house centipedes- house centipedes and cave crickets. They're both fast, both jump, and both have long spindly legs, and i can find both on my ceilings. Naturally they freak me out. Really we haven't had cave crickets since we lived in IL, but house centipedes were a new thing to me when we moved to PA- i grew up here and NEVER saw a house centipede. ::shivers thinking about them:: Must try peppermint oil- how careful should i be with peppermint oil if i have a dog? not that my dog really goes in the basement anyway....

i still do freak out- it's the one thing my husband can't get. Although the first time I saw one, i had just moved into our first PA apartment (We have them in the basement of the house we rent now too) and he had gone back to IL for a bit and i found a baby one and called him to be like "What iiiiiis it?!?!? I don't liiiiiike it" and of course he was like, i'm at a party saying goodbye to my friends-stop being stupid. Then when he came back and finally saw one, he at least agreed with my "What iiiiiis it?!?!? I don't liiiiiike it" reaction. lol. My real problem is they freak me out so much that i don't even like to kill them. The very first one, i trapped under a jar and took it outside and hoped it found someone else's house. I will spray them from afar with a stream of bug killer but then they fall from the ceiling or the wall- whatever they're on. i can't stand them!

The cave crickets freaked me out because they look like spiders but hop like crickets- high. That apartment was basement apt too.

ewww...I am getting all itchy just thinking about those things. I am really bad...I make my kids kill the spiders I find around the house or I suck them up in the vacuum and then make the kids or the DH take the vacuum out and empty it.

Oh Susan I am totally terrified of spiders as well!!!
Last summer I went to England and found a HUUUUUGE spider in my bath when I woke up -- the biggest I'd ever seen in person...
I almost fainted...

Oh how I hate those cave crickets! They are in my parents' basement--although I never saw any there when I was a kid. I don't go into my parents' basement unless the lights have been on for a while--that does seem to help. Our cat used to stalk them, carry them upstairs, then rip their little legs off. We'd find legs everywhere. Now, he's too old to care. ;) Dave Matthews used to tell a funny story about a visiting friend discovering a cave cricket and screaming "DIE DIE DIE!!!!" as he killed it.

I lived in Colorado for a year, and during that whole time, I only saw ONE bug, a small spider. If that's not a selling point for real estate, then I don't know what is!

Is anyone willing to swatch/describe Candid and/or other upcoming GWP? Why or why did I not join the M.A.C.?
TIA. :)
